You drive for hours in a 4x4 and then you end up in what looks like the very end of civilisation. Behind these dunes, an endless sea of unknown, it seems. You're on top of one of the dunes, looking at one of the most beautiful sunset there is. And then a horde of drunken bikers invades the silence. They... More

Beautiful place to visit. The dunes are stunning and easily accessible from the end of the road, the large village of M'hamid. However, we found the atmosphere is M'Hamid rather unsettling and not all that friendly. The competition for business was too aggressive. I definitely suggest staying in Oulad Driss (5km before M'hamid when coming from Zagora): the tiny settlement... More

We got caught in a sand storm and the 4x4's didn't slow down. Nothing to crash into in a flat sandy desert (this particular part used to be a river bed). Exciting, and fun! We stopped a few times to see some interesting things - an area covered in fossils embedded in stone, a couple of amazing land features, a... More

We had an amazing time even getting here, let alone once we finally arrived. The drive down from Marrakech was beautiful, and once we got to Mhamid and into our 4x4 out to the desert, the first thing we saw along the side of the road was a cow being slaughtered for a wedding party. A couple hours later, we... More

The bigger dunes are located roughly an hour and a half from M'Hamid (or around 3 hours from Zagora). There are plenty of camps in the area where you can stay (booked in advance). We highly recommend the Erg Chigaga Luxury Desert Camp. Witnessing the sunset in this area is a once in a lifetime experience.

We had great fun here and it may well have been the highlight of a very special holiday. The dunes are huge and otherworldly so it was nice to explore and run around them as long as you aren't out when the sun is at it's most brutal. I'll never forget watching the sun go down in the Sahara because... More

You get a comfy tent, access to dune boards, camel rides, and the glorious stars. We had a nice dinner here along with warm welcomes and mint tea.

We are now back from an amazing trip with Zabartravel to Erg Chegaga M`Hamid Sahara Morocco. The tour went over the Atlas Mountains Tizn n Ticna to Tinseltown Ait Benhaddou and Ouarzazate, Zagora and M`Hamid last stop before the road ends and the desert begins. It was a spectacle fanatstisk with almond trees in full bloom in a landscape that... More
