The water is so blue! It's a small beach but loved by locals. It's very close to the lighthouse less than a quarter mile. The name means dirty beach but it's far from it, it does have seaweed in some places just on top of the water and on the sand where it was upon the shore. The locals prefer... More

A must see natural beauty. The beach was covered with lots of algae, but common for this season. At the top of the hill lies Cabo Rojo's lighthouse, now with a trolley for those that zo not want to take the hike. Fabulous and breathtaking. This is the farthest southwest corner of Puerto Rico.

Not for picky people who don't like seaweed but it's a gorgeous place to hangout and take in the view. My bf & I took a dip and a few other people there went swimming as well. Even kids went in. It wasn't too busy on the Wednesday that we went but there were a few groups of people. -Take... More

On the way to playuela, you must pass by salt pools and also visit the Faro. The beach itself can be seen from the Faro. The beach has very calm waters because it is deep on a bay. Towards the parking lot, at least 30% of the beach gets plenty of seaweed but as you walk farther away from the... More

Very nice, secluded beach! You have to hike quite a distance from the parking area to the beach. Lighthouse is closed on Wednesdays. Parking fee was not charged on the day we visited (Wednesday). No restroom and/or changing facilities on the day we were there. (Supposedly there is a restroom in the lighthouse.)

I was sad to see how dirty this beach is. There's about 4 feet of seaweed off the shore. It smells like sewage getting there. Not worth the trouble.

Everyone talked about how great this beach is so we decided to check it out. but when we got there it was disgusting, the entire shore was covered with piles of seaweed and then on top of the seaweed were hundreds of little flies on it..we drove for over an hour to find nothing but disappointment

All this talk about this beach made me make this beach my number one priority, only to find the beach covered in mountain n mountain of sea weed, I was so disappointed, there was no possible way of swimming there, we couldn't even touch the water, we just rerouted to the next possible beach,
