4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2013 NEW

D'Alt Villa appears to have been an old fortress town, surrounded by high walls to keep the invaders of the past from attacking the local population. Given the modest population of the island it's quite a visually imposing site,... More

Some of the best photos can be captured in and around the old town! Day or night is stunning with a glimpse into the Spanish homes along the cobbled streets and slopes. Prepare to walk a lot as the sights are colorful and breathtaking from start to finish. You'll get to drink and eat along the journey and there are... More

If you are on the Island a visit to D'Alt Villa must not be missed, walking around the twisting streets where people live and small bars, restaurants, and hotels dotted around. there some amazing restaurants at the bottom inside the main gate that should not be missed, such as El Olivio, La Oliva

Perhaps the other side of the island is better known for watching the sun go down but this is the best place for me. Too hot to explore during the morning or siesta time but perfect as the sun goes down for all ages, this fortified town deserves its World heritage site status but go in peace, wander up hill slowly,... Touring this old town was a wonderful experience. There's a special mood there : the gorgeous light at any moment of the day, the awesome stone walls, the small, charming and so peaceful streets, the surrounding fantastic blue crystal see, the seagulls gently flying above the walls, old palm-trees everywhere, the pleasure of overhanging the contemporary town and the surroundings...... Good food, service, location. But too 5-star-ish for me. Pricey but you do get what you pay for here. Quiet location, but close to the action.

Nice old-town and enjoyable climb up to the centre. Probably too early in the season as most restaurants and bars up there were closed.

If you want just to walk and enjoy views - its for you. Old city is very nice with narrow streets and old buildings. Go upstairs and enjoy sea and port view
