Spectacular view

A great ride to the top with spectacular views up and down Lake Como. Well worth it! We then walked back down a track, through a remote village and bus back to Argengo.

It only takes 5 minutes either way and Pigra is very old - lots of classic buildings. It was pretty quiet on the day I went but still had a good espresso coffee at the top. The cable car doesn't run all day in the winter so check the timetable.

We caught the 1130 car, had lunch in the village, and took the 2pm car down. Donkeys and chickens roam free near the church, and the views go on forever when there are no clouds or fog. The ride itself is smooth and fast. A trip back in time. If you like authentic spots, it's a perfect choice.

Staying in Argegno for a couple of days over the new year meant that many places around The Lake were closed in the off season, but fortunately the cable car (funivia) was operating - so up we went! It was a very smooth ride both up and down and on a clear day the views would be amazing. Unfortunately for... More

If you want to get to Pigra without the long car trip up the mountain road, then this is the way to go. As a cable car experience its not that special and the views from the Belverdere (15 minute walk from the top) are Ok but largely ruined by huge electricity pylons. Pigra itsself has little to recommend it.... More

We had a car and used Waze to direct us. Clearly with our intention to drive to Argegno and take the car up the mountain. Instead waze brought us to the top. It was a very challenging twisty curvy drive. Other than taking a few pictures there is nothing to do there at the top. Be warned the Argegno station... More

A very steep but rewarding walk from Argegno to Pigra..! It took an hour or so of pretty fast paced hiking. The trail is easy to walk, not technical. And the cable car ride down was amazing. Bella Vista! Only thing to check is the times of the cable car, I just missed one and had to wait 30mins for... More

It took some persuading to get me in the cable car, but I am so pleased I went! Having already read a review about the swaying experience when passing a pylon, I was more prepared for it! It was a fantastic experience and we were blown away (not literally!) by the medieval village of Pigra. It was quite a cloudy... More

This is the best combo lake can offer with views and quiet walks. Kids were able to play tennis on the top. City walking tour was really well made to follow.

We walked from Argegno to Pigra, and then took the cable car back down to our car. It was a wonderful hike-up. Upon our arrival in Argegno, we were a bit lost. We could not find the route up, and needed to find a bar for bottled water, etc. We bumped into a local who was very helpful. It turned... More
