Went to Lake Covadonga to watch the Vuelta riders come thru which was great, but was taken by the beautiful rugged scenery around it more of Picos de Europe. The small town is a nice place to stop to explore the walking tracks and locals were very hospitable.

After an uphill wind-y drive that scared the heck out of some of our friends, we were transported to what seemed like another world. Beautiful mountains and lakes with mist and tons of cows and sheep grazing. The view and the sound of the cow bells was mesmerizing. The bathroom situation is pretty bad -- only one stall for each,... More

We had a great time walking round. The day we went was a public holiday, and there were plenty of people by the lakeside, but it was much quieter when we walked around the back of the mountain. Signposts were intermittent, and better suited to going round clockwise, and we would recommend getting a route plan and or map before... More

Try to spend more time and at least walk around the lakes. We didn't have enough time because we arrived late. Also, the weather was miserably overcast and grey, so the views weren't as spectacular as it could have been. If you can, time the visit to coincide with a brighter day! In summer, Easter and long weekends, private cars... More

Once you work out the only way up in summer is the 8 euros per person coach you get on fine. The scenery on a sunny day is simply stunning and not just the lakes and peaks, there is even an old mine up there! Be prepared for some walking to see more. The food is up at the higher... More

Wonderful scenery though not truly spectacular IMHO. The bus trip itself is worth the €8 fare. There are a few hairy bends but for the mist part you can just relax and take in the views. It was raining when we got to the lakes but the beauty was undeniable. Well worth the trip.

Words cannot describe this area it is beautiful, clean and you can walk for miles. You might even see the one of the sheep dogs leading his flock of sheep up and down the road all on his own

Take the road up to the lake the views are fantastic. Watch the hairpins and watch out for cows they like to stand in the road round the harpin. When you get to the lake take the road that branches to the right and there is another lake and a restaurant.
