No audio tour but plenty of information in English. Furnished interiors and a great added things to see in the grounds. The stables are so well reconstructed as are the gardens. You could spend hours here if you have the time. My second fav chateau, the first being Chenonceau.

Really beautiful once you find the entrance! Parking over the road along the riverbank then a short walk to the main gate and ticket office, don't expect anything much in the way of food inside, there was only one small place open, but nobody around to serve you! out of season I guess!!!

I was glad the day was not too hot when our group visited the garden festival. There is such a lot to see and in really hot weather this could be hard work. We visited as part of a tour with Loire Valley Gardens, led by our guide Colin Elliott, who as a garden designer himself was really in his... More

I'm not given to writing bad reviews, but this was something I would warn people to avoid. The buildings and appointments are nicely done but not of the caliber of other Chateaus. The 'Festival of Gardens' widely spread around the vast grounds and badly marked or explained was the primary reason we visited. Frankly, that most disapppointing expereince would have... More

This is a lovely chateau with classic architectural lines that is quite a bit smaller than the A-list chateaux, but is still very much worth a visit. In practical terms, it's a good day trip destination from Blois or Tours: take train to Onzain, then a 20-25 minute walk (in itself very scenic). I visited off-season, mid-week, and was one... More

The chateau and park are lovely in themselves but the festival, which has been running annually since 1992, now attracts large numbers (around 400,000 p.a.) of visitors from around the world, many of them knowledgeable or professionally involved in art or horticulture. There are no trade stands, just around gardens, around 25 of them designed and built by invitation and... More

Maybe not as famous as Chambord or Chenonceau, but inside it has a lot. On the ground floors they really took care of all the decorations (beds, chairs tapestries). On the other floors there where exhibitions of modern art with the feel of a haunted castle (no maintenance whatsoever) And on top of that it comes with a good view... More

We were travelling from Angers to Blois and planned to stop at Chaumont. Unfortunately, it was the Sunday of the heritage weekend which made the line for tickets about 20 minutes. Also parking was quite a ways away, as the hordes were out for the day. It was however, well worth the inconvenience of getting in. It would be better... More

After visiting several Chateaux in the Loire Valley, I was a little disappointed with Chaumont. from the outside it looks unusual, but not as cool as Chambord. Inside was a bit sparce, especially compared to Versailles, Fontainbleau, and Azay le Rideau. The gardens were nice, but not as impressive as Villandry. If you have time, it is a lovely place... While there are châteaus more famous, I would have to say that this château was by far my favorite. We had a fun time exploring the top floor rooms, which were used as an art exhibit for one of the many modern artworks it was displaying. They were interesting rooms because they felt like a haunted attic -- paints peeling... More
