Castle is in great condition and is a wonderful one hour walk through. Views of the Loire are great. Visit to the Garden festival is recommended as well as a quick view on the stables

We have been to several chateaux in the Loire-et-Cher area, but spent longer here than at any other. Everyone else has mentioned the long uphill climb to wards the chateau. The gardens surrounding the chateau give you lovely photographic possibilities. The interior is amazing - but for us, it was made even better by the unrestored rooms that were 'given... More

We parked at the east entrance which was great as lots of parking spaces on the side of the Loire. Beautiful views there. The entrance was €10.50 per adults, €4.00 for the kids. East entrance means walking uphill to access the castle but it's not that bad.... The castle is really lovely, rich of history, lots of explanations which help... More

Beautiful chateau with fantastic grounds. Very busy (couldn't really see anything inside chateau for crowds). If you take a picnic be aware you have to eat it in the designated area by the car park.

Once you traverse the long, uphill walkway from the entrance, you will be rewarded with a fairy-tale chateau high above the banks of the Loire. The building has a rich history. Although an original castle was built in the 10th century, the current one dates to 1465. A century after that it was acquired by Catherine de Medici. Nostradamus was... More

If you're in the area it is well worth a visit. It's an absolutely beautiful castle to walk around and far less crowded and touristy than Chambord. It was very interesting to see the top floor in its original state and I enjoyed the exhibitions too.

I have to admit that Chaumont is one of the best chateau in Loire. The exterior is so amazing and for photo hunting person, this is a heaven. When I came there in weekend, it was quite crowded so it was quite difficult to find park space for parking. From entrance to the chateau, it will take some effort since... More

I visited the castle, the most beautiful there was the view to the river. But what worth seeing is the garden festival. I ve already visited it twice and it was always wonderfull. Every year there is a special topic and about 20+ different small gardens following the theme. For every year you can buy a brochure with plans for... More

This year the gardens were about the 7 sins with a new them each year. It's almost like RHS Chelsea so it's a must for keen gardeners (and for those not so not so keen). The chateau is beautifully located overlooking le Loir. The audio-guide explains everything so well and adds to the enjoyment of the visit. After the visit... More
