I imagined Praia do Forte to be a sanctuary for turtles, a desert beach. It could not be further from the truth. One access the beach from well manicured streets where trendy shops, bars and restaurants are located. Most of the places are decorated with Asian style - plenty of wood, flowers and colourful textiles. Everything is spotless. Most people... More

This "upmarket seaside village" could be a resort anywhere in the world and lacks any charm or character. We only visited in order to go to the turtle sanctuary, and certainly wasn't worth spending much more time there. Overpriced and fake, there are much nice and much cheaper placers to visit along the costline nearby.

Spent a week in a house that was five minutes from the small town of Praia do Forte. We found it charming. Fun shopping for the ladies, a nice bakery for our morning addiction to chocolate croissants, variety of restaurants and the turtles. Not much English was spoken, one always gets by with hand gestures.

When we booked here is didn't really know what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. A couple of things to be aware of when booking here - It's around an hour away from Salvador airport so a taxi on the meter will cost around 200 reals. If you come here in low season it's quite difficult to get excursions booked... More

Safe walk round, easy going with gift shops and no hassle from sellers. Tourist type goods and turtles in the sunshine.

Like everything about it, but it is sometimes difficult to get information on the different beaches in the area.

The beach is a little dangerous, but clean and sunny. Lots of handcraft souveniers being sold all around.

I kept hearing about Praia do Forte from various locals as one of the best places to go. So, I went. I selected to use the hotel travel agent as a source to schedule transportation and the trip. I was struck on how nice the narrow streets looked with its shops and little spots to eat or have ice cream.... More

Praia do Forte has the most amazing beaches in Bahia. The city looks like a small village, has good restaurants, bars, small shops and beautiful houses. The nature there is awesome, don't forget to bring your camera. I think that 2 nights is enough to know everything and then head to another beach in Bahia.

Positively surprised. Very nice little town, with pleasant traffic free main street. Lots of restaurant, small shops, bars. Nice atmosphere and everything close to the nice white beach.
