Visited recently with visitors to Penang and was disappointed. This used to be a smart casual dining experience the restaurant at the spice garden. The spice garden does offer tours as well. However as with most things in Penang standards slip. The food on this occasion was poorly presented, hap hazardly served and the tastes were not good. Shame on... More

Visited this place hoping to do some landscape photography. Generally it's a nice to spend some quite time away from the busy touristy areas. It's quite a big place to walk and get in touch with some nature. So go in walking shoes, bring an umbrella in case it rains and a bottle of water.

It is well worth paying a little extra for the guided tour. The enthusiasm of the tour guide beats the audio tour hands down! Very interesting to learn about the different spices and herbs and how they are part of Asian life, also how they made Penang a gateway for the early trade routes.

We have been on lots of spice tours before and really only visited the Spice Garden to have lunch at the associated restaurant, but the guided tour we had was great! Our guide was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the different plants we saw. There was even a giant monitor lizard slithering through the gardens - it made it worth... More

An enjoyable peaceful setting, meander along the paths listening to the audio track. Very easy to get to just catch the 101 and it drops you right at the door.

I participated in the Malay cooking class held at Tropical Spice Garden. The day begins with a guided tour through the spice garden where you learn about the different spices, herbs and see them growing which is really interesting. The cooking class was probably dumbed down a bit too much for my liking, but its good because it caters for... More

Price is average: around 7-8 USD for tour with audio. They have many types of tropical trees here but not so many trees (in quantity). By the end of the garden they have a store with many pure oils and anti-mosquito sprayer that you could buy.
