Very beautiful garden. Away from the crowded touristy attractions. Staff is friendly. They even offer lemongrass oil to keep the mosquitoes away. Cons: a lot of mosquitoes :(

This place is quite nice for a wander. Gives some history of Penang as well as an agricultural look at the island, presented with a real garden and audio tour. Very nice for a lazy afternoon- you can get the 101 or 102 bus there from Georgetown (it is about an hours ride).

We got to the Tropical spice garden on our own steam not connected to a tour. We are staying at the Holiday Inn so it took 5 minutes by taxi to get there at a cost of 10 MYR. We arrived and we asked if we wanted a tour guide or the audio hand sets and a map to walk... More

Came to this place a couple of times before for lunch and also attended a family friend's wedding here. Beautiful garden, a good place to learn about spices. There's a Thai restaurant there which serves good food. Also a lovely private venue for an intimate wedding. If you're lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of the dusky leaf monkeys... More

If you have a chance and time to explore outside of Georgetown, do go to the Spice garden. If you are interested in the medicinal qualities of spices and the use of it in your daily meals this plave will provide you with all the knowledge you need. Be prepared for mosquitoes and other insects as this is after all... More

If you are interested in exotic tropical plants or spices or both this is the place for you. An excellent audio guide and well marked paths make for a pleasant, even if very hot, experience. Nice Thai food at the top.

One of the best Penang experiences and not to be missed. I live in Penang for some of the year and still go regularly for the peace and enjoyable walks. We always take visitors and recommend people to it. The guides are very nice and extremely knowledgeable and passionate about their garden. It is well laid out and very interesting... More

I visited the Spice Garden one afternoon whilst on holiday in August with my wife and two 6 year old daughters. I had requested some information via e-mail before our trip and received some prompt and good information from the customer services department. On arrival we decided to do the audio tour by ourselves, using the headset that we were... More

Really interesting place but make sure you have plenty of time and water. Lots of walking and steps to navigate. Such a lot to learn about the plants and their uses. Take a walk in the spice terrace and taste some of the spices available.. You can also drink some of the herbal tea or drink the natural spring water.... More

This is a well documented walk around a vast selection of local and exotic jungle plants. There is excellent signage and an audio guide with more information than most will be able to adsorb and there is an "express" route to the cafe for when you have had enough. We thoroughly enjoyed this and stopped off to have the "fish... More
