admittedly, our tour of the gardens was quite abbreviated, and so our rating may be suspect. literally about 50 feet or so into our tour on a drizzly day, we ran into (at least; we did not spend a lot of time fine-tuning our count) two "mini-dragons" blocking our path in an agitated manner. my wife at that point flatly... I went in a large group and we got to play some sort of fun games in the garden and explore it at the same time

If you're looking for an escape from dusty streets this is the place to go. The 101 bus from the terminal takes about 11/2 hours but is a very scenic drive once you hit the beach. The gardens have three main trails which are quite small. However, the place is lush, green and relaxing. View from the cafe is beautiful.

This place is worth a visit (wear comfortable shoes) and we were most impressed with the overall presentation with the design and labelling not to be faulted. The admission price is affordable and the audio device is a benefit. Reasonable fitness and mobility are required and it is worthwhile allowing time to thoroughly enjoy this attraction. The cafe where we... More

The tropical spice garden was a lovely place to visit. The layout is a tad confusing, but the display of spices and local plants is interesting and the water area especially, is very beautiful. Well worth a visit if you are in Batu Ferringhi, it can be easily and very cheaply reached by local bus from Georgetown.

I came here early one morning; the admission fee includes an audio guide which explains the plants and trees as you walk through. It's very interesting if you like the horticultural history of Penang. The gardens were beautiful and a pleasure to walk around. There is also a cooking class which you can do if you book ahead. Overall a... More

Arrived in the mid afternoon and took a self guided audio tour. Absolutely lovely. Peaceful, aromatic, and informative. The gift shop is worth a visit for premium spices at a good price. Will try the restaurant on my next visit as the view was stunning.

The guided tours offer interesting insights into the various herbs and spices in the garden. Having been more than three times, I have never had the same information as each guide has his own interest and perspective on the plants. One talked of the medicinal benefits, another the historical perspective of the spice trade, another about nutrition. They also have... More
