A very nice village with smiley and friendly people. You must go during the weekend to taste, smell and get in the beat of this lovely community. We have booked this visit with Thextreme Tour and our guide was very nice and he knew very well the village, we been introduced to very nice places such as Cathedrals, merchants, forest... More

Juayua comes alive with all sorts of wonderful food to try. Walk through the food tents and taste test all the cuisine before choosing the one that impressed you the most. Rabbit, ribs, steaks, shrimp, fish, desserts, coffee, beers, anything you could hope for, all served to you bu the friendly locals with a great big smile. Listen for the... More

You point and then grab a table or share, they cook and serve, you eat--no problem! Highly recommend the booth run by Restaurante R & R--it's located in the street just around the corner (go east and south) and about 1/2 way down the block towards the park. We got the surf&turf (grilled steak and shrimp) and the steak--the grilled... More

Tip: cash only. Festival Bakery (in one of the corners around the plaza has good sweets, check my review and pics). Pros: lots of variety, good value for money, big portions, local food, great experience. Cons: smoky, hot, very busy, hard to find a spot to seat. There are lots of different types of food. It's really hard to choose.

Spectacular, unspoiled series of waterfalls in a "rain forest" outside of Juayúa, El Salvador. I engaged a member of the hotel staff (Hotel El Mirador) to "guide" me (only Spanish spoken)--we walked through town & through the forest, trail being constantly cut back by men working with machetes, for several kms and traversed a series of magnificent falls--more charming precisely... Ruta de las Flores and the food fair at Juayua Since my wife and I are serious foodies, we just had to go to the food fair that is held every Saturday and Sunday at the little mountain town of Juayua, a stop on the Ruta de las Flores. The fair was authentically local, with hardly any overseas tourists in... More

I'd gone to the gastronomic fair before but never knew about the waterfalls located nearby until I saw them on an MTV special (on Youtube). "Chorros de la calera" has 3 beautiful waterfalls. Getting there is quite an adventure~ Check out more about this place: http://www.juayua.com/paginas/pagina.php?Id=8

I am originally from El Salvador, but I had never been to the "Feria Gastronomica" I had so much fun riding the train around the small town. The have lots of beautifully hand made clothing. They have horses you can ride for a minimal fee. The food was delicious and inexpensive. I enjoyed my time there with my family and... More

I just went to the "Gastronomica (food) Fair" here in Juayua this afternoon and didn't realize how big an event it is. Usually it's only on the weekends but since Xmas is a festive day here it was held today too. Not only are there 30-40 new food stalls set up around the main square selling a wide variety of... More
