Very strange place that we visited to kill some time between Rethymnon and our flight home. Like a piece of the English Lake District, complete with mist shrouded hills, heated up and plonked in Crete. Then a beach, pedaloes, tavernas, geese and souvenir shops added (+free parking). If you are curious have a look, but otherwise not worth a special... More

We were convinced to visit this location by other trip advisor viewers. If you think you will see the lake as depicted by the pictures shown on this site then you will be disappointed. When you walk down the hill to the lake with the continuous " free parking" inducements so you will eat at very ordinary eateries you will... More

Had a long drive there, but worth it. Free parking, and free sun beds are always welcome. The water is clean and clear, and had fun on a pedalo (€7 for a hour). Just a heads up, the walk into the water has small rough stones. Had a good chill, relax, happy I went for a visit.

Beautiful location with great swimming and sunbathing. If you are feeling energetic you can hire a pedalo. A must see if you are staying in this area.

There are lots of signs for this pottery shop, from the lake all the way to the village centre, a few km up the road from the lake. My partner and I went in, looked around and admired the ceramics on sale, but chose not to buy anything (as is our right, surely?). All the while, the owner was busy... More

cute if you have kids and you want to spend a day away from the sun. You can rent a pedalo and watch the ducks on the lake

Crete's only natural lake is well worth the trip. The lake is crystal clear and great to swim in. We hired pedolas with friends and set of to find the turtles on the far side of the lake. Having spotted a few and a couple of small snakes the children jumped in and enjoyed a swim back across the lake.... More

This lake is so beautiful with the mountains behind and the clear water. There are plenty of pedalos for hire and some have slides on. It is absolutely a place to visit because it is so lovely.

Set just 3km off the national road in front of a huge mountain was one of the most beautiful lakes I have ever seen. There are numerous Tavernas located along side with free parking. Prices are also reasonable for such a wonderful setting. The water was crystal clear and I expected it to be green and murky in late July.... More
