When we saw the memorial it was closed. Whatever we could see from the main sea facing road, it was very simple but very impressive. Names of French Soldiers inscribed on the plaque catapults one back into time when Pondicherry was a part of France. The feeling is enough to visit this memorial again

Its a quaint memorial in french style that gives you a memorable photo-op. But should be better lighted and maintained. you need to have a good DSLR to actually get a quality pic as the monument is too simple and the soldier is too miniscule at that distance.

A very simple memorial to the french soldiers lost during their reign in Pondicherry. Still a very desirable place to enjoy the sun and surf. A few more memorials dot the coast.

- The memorial is on the name of all brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives in world war I. Please go before 6PM or else it gets closed after that. - The promenade and rocky beach can be clubbed with this. You would not be needing more than 15 minutes to visit this places untill and unless you read all... More

This is a nice memorial. But one isn't allowed inside the place, so you can't even go up to see the names on the wall. It definitely is a reminder of the brave. :) :(

This monument located on Goubert Avenue, was built by the French before they finally left pondicherry. It commemorates all the Indian soldiers who died during the first world war. It is a small acknowledgement for those laid down their lives for peace in the world. Needs cleaning up and maintenance.

This monument located in seaside promenade, which is lovely beach in Pondicherry. This memorial raised by the French to honour the soldiers who died in world war 1. Really one must see.
