Sadly the litter and dirt of the area does not make the Promenade a tourist attraction you are hassled by street traders and beggars.

We visited this part of Pondicherry on a Sunday evening. It was packed with both tourists and locals alike. Its a lovely place to take a stroll and sit by the rocks and enjoy the evening breeze. Even the kids enjoyed themselves. Lot of hawkers which might make the place a bit noisy. But overall a nice place to stroll... More

The ambience is good. The food is also delicious. Better have a seat in roof-top and enjoy the sea breeze from the Bay of Bengal. yummy time :) ! !

This has been the foremost thing to do in Pondi by majority of the tourists and local alike. Just park you vehicle at 50mtrs away from the sea. There are barricades at every entrance to this road that prevent bikes and cars though you don't want to drive on that road which is just aligned to sea from end to... More

The promenade, a place to be in the evening. Jam packed with locals and tourists alike. Its a bout a straight 2 km walk facing the sea. The road gets blocked everyday from 6.30 in the evening until early morning for vehicles so that you can even walk in the middle of the street. The place is getting more commercialized... More

One word outstanding. Great place to spend as a group or alone. Mornings and evenings make you feel very uplifted on the beach. Lovely breeze and occasional shower makes it special . Must visit.

Seaside Promenade is one of the oldest attractions of pondicherry. Just loved this stretch- the excellent location, cool breeze, magnificent view of the sea, neat and clean walkway and bright lights even at night. The 2kms stretch of the promenade with the breathtaking view of the sea from the foot of the statue of Mahatma Gandhi is just awesome. Walking... More

In Pondicherry this is only one place where tourist and local resident must visit place. Sun Rise on Bay of Bengal is nice. People are walking from 4 AM, the road kept close for vehicles from evening 6.30 PM to Morning 6.30 AM. It is a meeting place, children are also enjoying. Evening , mostly week end are packed up.... On the side the facades of the buildings is very much French and you would for sure love to sit in Le Café on the promenade in case you get some place ;-), this place is crowded on weekends but is fun as a walk with a family or friends. Can not be missed during your travel to Pondicherry as... More
