It starts with the Govt war memorial opposite French Embassy and the attractions end with the Le cafe. To reiterate this is not a beach, its just a seaside where a lot of locals come for a pleasant evening walk. The road is closed for traffic post 6:30pm IST. The stretch is dotted with other attractions like the Gandhi Statue,... More

My title said it all. Nothing special than just a good 1.5 KM stretch decorated with lights and small shops on the seaside. With loads of expats and backpackers taking a sip of coffee in the boutique hotels on the other side of the road. Each end of the road has the French quarters to look at, quiet roads, boutique... I have no idea whats with indians and the mess they make ( I myself an indian ) . This seaside walk is supposed to be so beautiful, But because of the fare on 15 August, this place was dirty like crazy. I hated it. wanted to run as soon as possible,

Like: : Good sea view and clean Lots of street carts for street foods. Good for kids to play as entry is restricted for vehicles . Park your car to the nearby lanes and enjoy Gets really crowded in the evening though

You stroll past French history - the old lighthouse, the Court, the French soldiers' memorial. Also a bit of Indian history - the memorial for Indian soldiers & Gandhi's magnificient statue. Evenings the road is closed to traffic so more spacious & lots of street activity including good coffee stalls.

1. It was warm 2. Only a Gandhi statue is that you can see 3. You can not touch water here 4. Based on other reviews possibly you can take walk here in evening, but I had gone at 4 pm. But I did not see any other attraction that might keep you here for long. 5. Better go to... More

Dawn & Sunset!!! The seafront is awsome!!! On weekends it is very crowded in the evening but still would say worth a 2 hour visit!!! Traffic is closed on the road early in morning and in the evenings and the feeling is that of a fair!!!

The Beachside is littered and needs a better maintenance and vigil against littering, suggest taking a cycle rickshaw and seeing the city at close hands.

The Promenade is a short enough stretch overlooknig the waters of the Bay of Bengal...clean, neat and quite soothing...barring a few vendors along a short stretch, one side overlooks the french quarters and architecture, the other the waters...Quite a relaxing walk...Reminded me a lot of Panjim, Goa though much less crowded and cleaner and more calm..
