We went here from nearby laganas however ther wer no other bars or restaurants other than the one. The sunbeds were old and you had to pay for them whereas 20 mins walk down the beach u can get sunbeds for free as customers of the beach bars/restaurants. I recommend you stay at laganas beach it is nicer

Loved the fact that you could swim with the turtles, lovely clear shallow water for children. Monitored by guards to ensure you don't sit on the nesting sites which I thought was amazing, they are also very informative and you can ask them anything about the turtles. Sand is quite dark and dirty looking but don't let this put you... More

I stayed in the balito hotel for 2 weeks from the end of may. I came across kalamaki beach on the first day the food was great and they have a small but secluded beach and the level of service is very good. During my stay in crete I spent a lot of time as it was a good jumping... More

A turtle nesting site so kept as a conservation area. Just one beach cafe and one kiosk, but lovely shallow sea safe for kids.

This beach has beautiful sands and crystal clear sea. You can walk out into the sea for a mile without any sudden drops in incline, it is all flat! Perfect for children! Sun beds and umbrellas are available at a cost but in peak times they are normally taken up early for the day as there aren't lots. There was... More

We visited the beach on 4 occasions during our week ... Every time was great sun, sand & surf! It is very shallow so quite difficult to swim until quite far out but great for general fun. On our final visit we actually encountered a turtle, no more than 4 feet away, swimming with us!! She came to the surface... More

Our visit was at the beginning of the season and rough seas had brought sea weed onto the beach. Experience tells me that this will improve in the coming weeks during the turtle nesting season
