What a thrill and what a view! We had been told you can nab a spot outside of the gondola for a truly awe-inspiring trip up but didn't think we would do it. When we arrived in mid-afternoon in late December there was no line and we were offered the spots in the open air on the roof - we... More

As another reviewer has said, from Salzburg this is a must do, and if you are a skier then incredibly good value. We called the web site number before leaving Salzburg, and the lady said the lifts were open (A must do before you drive the 50+ miles south). Taking the 4/5 mile twisty road up the mountain (For which... More

There was no notice at the gate. We paid the automated machine fare of 14 euros but it was closed for two weeks in December. We couldn't get our money back. :(

We were lucky enough to have beautiful clear weather on the day we took the cable car up to Dachstein! Views are absolutely beautiful in every direction! We enjoyed the hike up to the five fingers overlook and watching the hang gliders taking off and landing! Lunch at the mountain hut was simple, but good - Gulaschsuppe, bread and wine.... More

We saw this online before we arrived in Salzburg, we got very lucky, on our second day the forecast was clear, so we decided to make the trip. It took around 1 hour 15 mins to get there from Salzburg city centre (by hire car) Was easy to find, and well sign posted. We arrived at 10.00am and walked straight... More

The walk on Skywalk Dachstein is very adrenalized experience. You are walking and there are hundreds meters of free space under your feet.

What can I say? This is an experience NOT to be missed. From the moment you see the mountain from the base station for the cable car, you are drawn in and awe takes over. The ride to the top takes around 6 minutes and is a real joy. The anticipation mounts all the way. At the top, you immediately... More

This was breathtaking on the trip up on the cable car. Even though it was a blizzard and at the top vision was minimal....it was an amazing place. Make sure to take warm clothes and unless you have a lovely summer day, view will be minimal due to the height of the walkway.

Great views from top. We visited in August and it was all snowy & white. The skywalk feels very sturdy and is a unique and non-expensive experience.
