This has been established for many years and has interesting large trees and a pleasant garden.. There are a variety of birds, although not as many as in earlier years. Good food is available.

The gardens have matured since we first visited in 1982. The bones of the garden are still splendid but early Autumn is not the best time to visit for flower display, which is mostly finished by then. It's a very attractive place and a nice walk around, but I think there could be a lot more attention paid to keeping... More

I guess it all depends on what you like. We thought from the brochure that this would have a strong presence of native birds but we could not find any all. There are some rather run-down aviaries with some very bored although well-fed exotic birds sitting in them. It was nice to see that the birds were in good condition.... More

The Bird Gardens are fantastic! Everyone who's telling you a different thing just chose the wrong kind of attraction. The gardens are lovely to walk through, enjoy the nature and all the lovely bird which are runninh after you, if you got a pack of bird food :D After our first visit we were so fascinated, that we decided to... The kati kati bird gardens are a great place to visit and walk around. Children love feeding all the free range birds but the birds in cages look rather sad. Some of the cages are in damp, dark areas and many of the parrots have nothing to do. Too many ringneck parrots in one cage for example. Maybe kati kati... More

Left this place feeling most despondent.-it is very tired looking. As a poultry breeder i felt so sorry for the hens and roosters there .The silkies for example looked very bedraggled -,too many in the cage and desperately needing more daylight and better sleeping facilities .i would query the absence of adequate nutrition... The whole bird display needs relocating or... More

We went with lots of young kids, they loved the tree house! Feeding the birds was a bit scary for them as the bids were aggressive. Was a good trip for the school holidays but found the food expensive for what it was

We had time to kill before going to a family function and decided to go to Katikati Bird Cafe. We were instantly greeted by one of the male peacocks who just seemed to love showing of his stuff in front of his ladies who were sitting up in a beautiful old tree which looked as if nature had designed it...
