This was my first trip down to Safari Surf School, and I couldn't have been more psyched how it turned out. Everything from booking the trip, getting picked up at the airport by Peter, and the daily surf sessions were solid. As a solo traveler, the crew and other guests not only made me feel welcome, but I can honestly... More

This is my 3rd time back at Safari Surf School. The surf instructors are amazing surfers and super chill about helping you learn to surf. I love this place so much, this time I brought 20+ people to go surfing with me on April 5, 2013. I was especially shocked when Nico, one of the surf instructors, had my mom... More

I did the week-long Women's Surf Adventures package and can honestly say that I had the best week ever! I was a little nervous about travelling alone, but as soon as I got there I met a great group of like-minded, independent solo travellers and had a blast getting to know everyone. Tim and Marsi were great throughout the whole... More

My 60-year-old husband decided he wanted to try surfing and I was tired of winter. After doing Internet and travel book research we selected Nosara and Sarfari Surf School and were extremely pleased with both choices. We took our trip the first week of March, 2013. We rented a compact SUV and found that it really does take 2 1/2... More

I travelled solo and have never surfed nor been to costa rica. Would highly recommend to single travelers, groups, or couples. Great instructors, laid back environment and plenty of great food and beverage options.

I've attended surf camp at Tamarindo and have had 2 other surf instructor experiences in the states. Prado with Safari Surf School was way better than any surf instructor I've surfed with and I learned a TON! First off, he actually wants to know what level you are at before launching into the standard beginner spiel. Secondly, he was very... More

Just returned yesterday from a week at SSS with my two teenage daughters. We stayed at the Casa Toucan. We had never surfed before. The instructors were friendly, fun and fabulous! The girls were out "in the green" in no time and they even had their 50 year old mother up and turning by the end. We did the meal... More

Amazing place to learn to surf, particularly for the novice or beginner. Do your research on Nosara and Playa Guiones -- but you'll have a tough time finding a friendlier setting and perfect beach break. The crew at Safari set up shop here before anyone else and they know what's up. The instructors were all fantastic and can have you... More

Like you I was having a hard time deciding on a place to learn to surf. It was on the bucket list and I wanted to succeed in this beautiful sport that I have watched from the beach for many years. Priorities were consistent surf, warm water, and a sandy bottom. Nosara was the picking but how do I pick... More

I booked this less than a week before (thanks to Marsi, who was amazingly helpful) so I didn't have a ton of time to build up expectations. But if you're on the fence about Safari Surf School, esp as a solo traveler, you should just do it. Everything about the experience, from the food to the instructors and the whole... More
