Owner description: Release the child within and experience New Zealand's quirkiest theme park. Voted by AA Tourism as a must-do Kiwi experience The Waterworks is a theme park with a difference. Set in 5 acres of native Coromandel Bush and just 10 minutes from Coromandel Town is an array of water powered inventions, quirky contraptions and fun to discover at every turn. Inspired by the ability to create something new out of something old our attractions are made largely from recycled materials and are powered by water. Water is used to keep time on the wooden water clock; watch out though it often works on Coromandel time. We've got water cannons to blast away on and bikes that pump H2O. Our human sized hamster wheel is an absolute hoot and our mad inventions leave people wondering "what the".As well as the 70+ attractions to look at, play on, or interact with, The Waterworks has a generous adventure playground area perfect for picnics, an onsite café, free use of BBQs and a natural swimming hole to cool off in during the hot summer months.

Very enjoyable but sadly, not that accessible to families as it is overpriced. Paying $7 for a coffee was a shock too. Is Coromandel becoming overpriced? Good question that needs answering.

The Waterworks was a great place to visit for all the family. Interactive bits for the kids and informative and humorous bits for the adults. Loved the flying fox for adults and giant swings. Well worth the money.

This attraction is so much fun that we still talk about it to this day! It was one of our best days of a 4 week trip. This is a crazy, eclectic, fun little park that simply should not be missed. Below I had to click 2013 as the time of our visit but it was really Dec 2003

We had planned to go to hot water beach but the weather was not playing ball. I'd picked up a flyer ealier that had a list of attractions to visit in the Corramandel and The Waterworks was on the list. We'd never heard of it or seen it advertised anywhere but with 3 kids getting bored we decided to go... More

Had never heard of this park but went to check it out and LOVED it. So much fun & so many laughs. Great for kids & adults. If we lived in NZ I would want to buy an annual pass as we would want to visit again & again. My 3 year old hasn't stopped talking about it & it... More

We visited on a cool rainy day but it did nothing to distract from the amazing variety of water type attractions. On a hot day I'm sure kids would love the swimming hole and water cannons. We laughed our way around and loved the boards with all the info and jokes. Love the recycling & vegie garden - the pigs... More

We hadn't heard about this place, until we drove past it. Later in the day, on a whim, we returned to visit. This place is all about neat, homemade gadgets, mostly using water. There was also a neat kids (well, the whole family!) play area, where you can get in and have a great time. My son and husband loved... More

We were recommended to visit Waterworks by relatives and our motel owner in Coromandel. So glad we made the effort. A great day to be had by children of all ages - this one is 65+. My favourite activity was the boatrace gutter. Reminded me of my chilhood activities. Loved the quirky displays and activities.
