Owner description: Release the child within and experience New Zealand's quirkiest theme park. Voted by AA Tourism as a must-do Kiwi experience The Waterworks is a theme park with a difference. Set in 5 acres of native Coromandel Bush and just 10 minutes from Coromandel Town is an array of water powered inventions, quirky contraptions and fun to discover at every turn. Inspired by the ability to create something new out of something old our attractions are made largely from recycled materials and are powered by water. Water is used to keep time on the wooden water clock; watch out though it often works on Coromandel time. We've got water cannons to blast away on and bikes that pump H2O. Our human sized hamster wheel is an absolute hoot and our mad inventions leave people wondering "what the".As well as the 70+ attractions to look at, play on, or interact with, The Waterworks has a generous adventure playground area perfect for picnics, an onsite café, free use of BBQs and a natural swimming hole to cool off in during the hot summer months.

We came here about 5 years ago and every thing worked. This time there were a couple of attractions that were not working. Also one of the tyre swings had some wires sticking out. We enjoyed the day but given the cost, it should have been better kept.

Visited this attraction in Dec 2014 lots of fun even for big kids. Has a café but beautiful spot for a picnic and free BBQ's. Fun activities among lovely trees.

The Waterworks exceeds expectations. More than a 'recycled quirky attraction', it's creative and informative. From grandpas to kids there is fun awaiting everyone... and if you're prepared to get a little wet, well all the better! A day of timeless family connecting without the distractions of hurried every day life. This six-acre bush haven is good value for money and... More

We didn't know what to expect but thought the kids might like this and they did! It's not a waterpark in the hydro slide sense but has lots of fun things to do and play with to do with water. Like an adventure playground where you get wet! Great for families. Food at the cafe is a bit average -... More

I was very disappointed! I went there 4 years ago and when I went back, it was run down and I had to pay more! Extremely over priced and not worth $60, wish I had have got a refund. Would not recommend!

A great day out for everyone, and cooling off in the waterhole at the end of the day was wonderful. Lots to keep adults happy as well as the littlies, it's a great place.

As I live in the area, I have been here a few times over the years, but this visit a bit of a let down. One of the pumps to pump out water broke, and the boat race had hardly any water in it so the boats did not move, place you had to go and find you boat, not... More

My daughter had so much fun I took her back the following day! So innovative, so much fun, so imaginative. Great on a hot day too because there's so many opportunities to get wet! (But you don't have to if you don't want to). Togs friendly :-) If you are going anywhere near Coromandel, well worth a detour.

Fun place to go with our 4 & 6 year old boys - too expensive @ $70 for the family for what it was. Best part for our boys was the clever & simple boat race.
