Voted by AA Tourism as a must-do Kiwi experience The Waterworks is a theme park with a difference. Set in 5 acres of native Coromandel Bush and just 10 minutes from Coromandel Town is an array of water powered inventions, quirky contraptions and fun to discover at every turn. Inspired by the ability to create something new out of something old our attractions are made largely from recycled materials and are powered by water. Water is used to keep time on the wooden water clock; watch out though it often works on Coromandel time. We've got water cannons to blast away on and bikes that pump H2O. Our human sized hamster wheel is an absolute hoot and our mad inventions leave people wondering "what the".As well as the 70+ attractions to look at, play on, or interact with, The Waterworks has a generous adventure playground area perfect for picnics, an onsite café, free use of BBQs and a natural swimming hole to cool off in during the hot summer months. « less

A fun day out - and you do get WET! Very original and entertaining afternoon trying out all the different contraptions made from recycled materials, all powered by water. Lots of interactive and fun things to do set in very nice grounds. Cafe also very nice and staff very friendly.

Our kids loved it and would have given 5 stars (7 and 5 at the time). We did just a bit less because it needed a bit of polishing up and for the toilet. Spent there just under 3 hours, not busy at all on a bit wet spring afternoon, interesting place with play areas also, water attraction galore, maybe... More

We went on advice from information office lady. We arrived without great expectations thinking it might suit our children and grandchildren but spent more than 2 hours having fun with 3 others OAPs. I highly recommend Waterworks to anyone with a sense of humour and an enquiring mind. We were lucky as the place was quiet - I would be... More

Remember visiting the waterpark as a kid and made sure it was on my list of things to do again. Lots of interesting contraptions and things to do with plenty of surprises. Luckily we were the only ones there so no tourists ahead of us ruining the surprise. Bit disappointing to see parts of the attraction being repaired with insulation... More

We had a great time here! Even on a chilly winter day the waterworks are well worth a visit. The attractions are ingenious, beautifully crafted and bring out the little child in all of us. Lots of funny jokes as well as educational displays make this a well-rounded highlight of the route 309. And if all of this playing makes... More

We had such a cool time here. We were not sure about going here but I'm glad we did. We spent about 3 hours here in total walking around looking at all the attractions. Very well kept place and a real credit to the person/people who though it up

The 309 road has beautiful scenery and although a metal road is ok to travel. Waterworks is a wonderful place to visit with lots on interactive works so be prepared to get a bit wet! We went in the autumn and had lunch in the cafe which was lovely- nice food and great service. We will definitely go back in... More

Would have to be the most unique attraction we have ever been to. So many unusual water attractions and a whole heap of fun. We got caught out several times and got splashed with a bit of water but it was all part of the fun. A lot of imagination has gone into making the 70+ water attractions that it... More

This is a most unusual attraction, which lends itself to young and old alike. The variety of water features is very well thought out.
