Minsmere is a great place to discover nature. The RSPB shop, cafe and visitor centre provide a perfect introduction before you explore the beautiful countryside walks. Enjoy stunning woodland, wetland and coastal scenery and close views of a wide range of wildlife, including many rare species. Families can begin their journey of discovery in the Wild Zone, or build a den in the Wildwood Adventure. The nearby Discovery Centre is perfect for school visits, birthday parties and exhibitions. Self-guided activities include a free explorer backpack to borrow, and there's a regular programme of events in school holidays. Seasonal wildlife highlights include: spring birdsong, nightingales and booming bitterns and nesting avocets; summer butterflies, flowers and nesting terns; autumn migrants, red deer rut and colour; winter ducks, evening roosts of birds and Christmas shopping. Volunteer guides are often available to help you identify Minsmere's varied wildlife.

Came here last year but never got round to writing a review! After coming here regularly over 20 years ago as a kid it was fascinating to come back and see how the RSPB's flagship reserve is getting on. First off, plenty of room for parking and the Cafe is great. Good well priced food (the jacket potato with chilli... More

Fabulous visit to Minsmere, weather was perfect and it was my Birthday treat. Plenty to see, meeting up with RSPB guides helped us spotting birds and identifying them in the hides. Beautiful countryside, walking of the beach was just wonderful. Delicious food was served in the cafe and sitting outside eating our lunch was perfect.

Maybe the wrong time of the year as we didn't see many variety or number of birds. We did manage to see an otter with two pups so that was a real highlight. The facilities are first class for tourists and if you like a long walk, then this is the place. Many times you can't see anything for reed... More

It helps if you are a bird enthusiast, but it's not obligatory! There is so much to see and this stunningly beautiful site is so big it absorbs large numbers of people; you might groan when you find the car park quite so full, but your heart leaps when you find all those nearly-empty paths and places to walk. As... More

I recently visited Minsmere when I was on holiday in Suffolk; not one to be an avid fan of Springwatch or the like it was nevertheless one of the most enjoyable afternoons that I have enjoyed for a long time. A beautiful location, stunning landscapes and some truly interesting wildlife to view. Don't worry if you've never twitched before, you... More

I have been a RSPB member for over 10 years and I find Minsmere is the best attraction in my area. There is something to see and do for everyone. Some days it is busier than others and some days there is more to see than others but all in all I have never had a disappointing day out there.... More

Bring comfortable shoes, binoculars and patience and you won't go too far wrong. Several 'trails' leave from the visitor centre (cafe/toilets etc) to a variety of habitats and hides - from the shingle sea shore to woodland and open mere to dense reeds. If you're good you'll spot your own but ask and talk and you will learn a lot... More

Took myself off,on a day trip, whilst visiting my daughter in Ipswich. I had seen it on springwatch but hadn't really got the scale of the place till,I got there. Very large site with well maintained paths and hides, with varied habitats. Would need a full day to see it all. Very good visitors centre and cafe was good,if a little expensive.... More

A great day out if you like walking in a traffic free area and seeing lots of different birds. You can hire binoculars for just £3 a day. Lots of hides to view different birds. We saw snipes, egrets, storks, cormorants, swallows and lots more. Cafe is excellent and friendly, staff kindly cling wrapped our lunch choices and gave us... More
