Minsmere is a great place to discover nature. The RSPB shop, cafe and visitor centre provide a perfect introduction before you explore the beautiful countryside walks. Enjoy stunning woodland, wetland and coastal scenery and close views of a wide range of wildlife, including many rare species. Families can begin their journey of discovery in the Wild Zone, or build a den in the Wildwood Adventure. The nearby Discovery Centre is perfect for school visits, birthday parties and exhibitions. Self-guided activities include a free explorer backpack to borrow, and there's a regular programme of events in school holidays. Seasonal wildlife highlights include: spring birdsong, nightingales and booming bitterns and nesting avocets; summer butterflies, flowers and nesting terns; autumn migrants, red deer rut and colour; winter ducks, evening roosts of birds and Christmas shopping. Volunteer guides are often available to help you identify Minsmere's varied wildlife.

As an RSPB member my wife had wanted to visit Minsmere for many years. Finally got here during half-term week. It was inevitably very busy with considerable wait in the cafe - though the food was good (not cheap). The layout of the reserve & the variety of hides are excellent & we enjoyed a lovely bright winter's day. Would... More

You never know what your going to see it depends on the time of year but anything can drop in . With the sea pools streams farmland woods and heathland, there is biodiversity by the bucket full. This is in my opinion the best birdwatching destination in the uk and certainly in my top ten of world destinations. Bitterns booming,... More

After visiting 2 years ago, we returned and had a leisurely stroll round the reserve. There was a guide in one of the hides which helped with bird identification, and there are a good choice of hides to visit. We had been spoilt by seeing two bitterns on our first trip, so a bit disappointed when this particular bird evaded... More

Visited here many times and it's now on a roll. More professional entrance to the reserve/cafe etc. and the hides are better these days esp. with more guides and improved views. Love the new Island Mere hide with the movable chairs, great idea. Don't listen to the people who say otherwise, change is good. Great organisation to support as well,... More

We visit Minsmere as often as possible (every month or so). It is probably the best nature reserve in the country. The habitat is varied - woodland, seashore and 3rd largest reed bed in UK. Excellent hides from which to watch for the sort after birds; Marsh Harriers and Bitterns. Always lots of friendly regulars who will tell you what... More

... as a nature lover, not a twitched or extreme birder - just interested... and this is MY part of the country. I roamed over this area as a lad, long before "Minsmere" was established.

Although we live over 125 miles away we visit Minsmere at least 5 times every year for the tremendous range of wildlife, but mainly for the unbeatable birdwatching. In the winter there are ducks and geese, in spring the influx of exciting migrants, early summer brings stone curlew, cuckoos and hobbies galore and in the autumn there are all the... More

We arrived quite late so only had time for a quick snack in the cafe - they serve local food and 100% of their profit goes to supporting wildlife. There are three separate trails we chose the coastal one which was lovely.
