We loved it. Like everything in Texel probably. It is a fantastic place for kids. Maybe like most zoos and aquariums, but this one was special, and the some seals delivered babies a few days earlier, so we could see new born seals. It was very touching! The area around is also interesting. And those huge swimming seals behind the... More

I spent the day on Texel and this was the most interesting place we visited. The staff were very friendly and the attractions were up to date. I found the cost a little higher than I had expected, however the marine life made up for it. The rescued animals made the trip worth while. The seals and the birds were... More

This was our second visit to the Ecomare, and both times we have really enjoyed our-selves. The Ecomare is not only home to a number of rescued porpoises, seals and birds (which you can watch being fed at set times throughout the day), it has an aquarium, walks through the dunes and an interactive Texel and its seas information area.... Very nice place. Good for education about the Wadden world heritage site and the animals living there. Luckily for the animals not all the basins were full (means there weren't that much animals in need of rescue - love it)! There are a few animals in captivity that couldnt be returned to nature because of their condition. A few common... More

Rescue centre for seals that have been saved from the sea around Texel. The large indoor nature museum with exhibits about wildlife is very good. Suitable for all ages. Very nice day trip. The place is not a zoo or "DOLPHINARIUM", exactly the opposite! The only downside is that the website of Ecomare is mostly in Dutch, even if you... More

Situated right in the dunes on the west side of Texel, this place has a range of seals, porpoise and other mammals that have been saved from the sea around Texel. They were SO cute! We were there on a day when the huge tanks were being cleaned which was really interesting to watch. Ecomare has a large indoor area... More

Many people mistake Ecomare for just another aqua zoo and some are disappointed when they compare it to other aqua zoos in the world. Be aware that Ecomare is first of all a seal and bird sanctuary. Furthermore it is a nature museum, a sea aquarium and it houses the visitor center of the National Park "Dunes of Texel". The... More

If you want to know more about the animals living in the sea surrounding Texel, this is the place to be. I'm from holland but was very amazed about the animals living there. A must see. Also nice with children.
