There are really two beaches separated by a rocky headland. This can be walked around at low tide, go through a short natural tunnel or go up the cliff The later two can be done at any time. the first beach starts at the east around the marina and is about two kilometers to the headland and is quite wide,... It is one of the best beaches in Europe. Super long beach, with a lot of clifs to explore, shopping on the streets and shops, with miles of beach to explore. You can go trough tunnels and more tunnels from beach to beach. We were there last summer, and fall, located in the centre of Algarve, Portugal.

Just arrived back from a winter break where we were very lucky with some lovely winter sunshine. Not a lot open in February but we had plenty of lovely walks especially the cliftop walk to Praia da vau . This is a much smaller resort but very nice and if we went again we would stay there. The walk is spectacular... More

Small resort with numerous restaurants, tourist shopping and great beaches. The local bus service was very popular, almost a red sightseeing tour bus. Other bus companies serve the likes of Albufeira, an hour in the bus,a larger tourist resort catering for every need, however a bit of a culture shock compared to Praia da Rocha. Nearby Portimao, within good walking... More

We discovered this wonderful area last March, loved it so much went again in September and we are going again this March with my Brother and his wife. OK so it's not far enough away to be scorching hot and on the Atlantic has similarly changeable weather to South coast U.K. But typically about ten degrees C warmer in the... More

An excellent place to visit while staying in the Algarve but like many of the Algarve resorts it is quiet in winter. Portimao is just a short walk away for those with some fitness where normal commercial activity takes place at all seasons and has large shopping centres, restaurants and bars. The long beach has its own boardwalk as it... More

We visited in February and were shocked just how dead it was. Of course you don't expect everywhere to be open but there must have been less than 1 in 10 bars and restaurants open with just a few shops selling tat also open. Most of the hotels appeared to be shut and the few bars open seemed completely dead.... More

A busy place but friendly with some great restaurants. Loved the place. Liked the road side markets - no pressure to buy unlike some places.

We woke up early and took the but to Praia do Vau and then just walked until the end of Praia da Rocha... The tide was low and it was a real pleasure to walk among the cliffs of Algarve, a truly unique experince. During the winter months the only people you can see walking the beaches are old (British)... More
