The Blautopf is a small lake fed by an underground spring. It is quite deep - until late 19th century, there was a theory it was bottomless - and its waters are really blue - and a particularly beautiful blue at that. Have a cup of coffee or a glass of wine at the cafe on the shore of the... More

We took a ten minute train from Hbf ULM and after arriving at the Blaubeuren station we walked for about seven to eight minutes. After arriving there you would see a fairly small lake or spring. The color is amazing, especially when you climb up a little and then look down from the top. The place is not big or... More

We stopped by here after having visited Ulm. Beautiful. Depending on what time of the day you are there the water color is different. Nice place to cool down and relax and just enjoy. They have a lot of parking but on holidays and weekends it can be very crowded.

The Blautopf means blue pot. It is a spring that serves as the source of the river Blau. It is located on the city of Blaubeuren. If you walk around the pot you will see that the color of the water changes. We went in the afternoon and we walked around the pot to find at the end the turquoise... More

On a Christmas market tour and we stopped here on a whim! Small flea market was going on! Beautiful little town with some great photo opportunities! Worth the stop if you are in the area!

Ignore the tacky gift shops and head straight for the Blautopf. Magic! It won't keep you occupied for very long, but it is still worth a detour because of its extraordinary beauty.

The Blue Pond holds a secret. Her name is Lau and she is the beautiful water nymph who lives at the bottom of the pool. The story is a fascinating one and if you believe try and find her face in the pool as you look into it's depths. The blue is constantly changing from light blue to a very... More

The walk around the bright blue pond is lovely and a must for the photo album. The village itself is also very pleasant to walk around or enjoy a coffee and browse the few shops.
