Any long drive through the South Island is incomplete without going through Lake Tekapo. The views are amazing, I can't get over how the horizon vary from ice blue on one end to rustic brown hues of the mountains on the other. It was quite a sight. The church is worth going to, it's one of the few places where... More

I have seen this lake many times. All recent reviews commenting on the brilliant blue colour are not actually seeing the real colour which makes it famous. I recently drove past Lake Pukaki a couple weeks ago (early May) and due to the time of year, it is currently as blue as any normal clean lake would be, albeit much... More

A truly beautiful place. So much to see and do or you can just enjoy being in the moment and take in the amazing scenery. It is a small town with very friendly locals always willing to help or just pass the time of day. Just as the Dali Lama said, it is a truly spiritual place and somewhere everyone... More

Have been to Lake Tekapo a few times from a very young age till now in my 70's. Have always loved the beautiful turquoise colour and the peacefulness. Still unspoiled and quiet. More

The colours in and around this lake are amazing. It is a beautiful place to walk around, laze around or to enjoy a drink at the local tavern while admiring the scenery. The lovely little stone church is worth a visit with its picture window overlookig the lake. Our experience was enhanced by a wedding in the church on the... More

We stopped here on the way to Queenstown from Christchurch. We are so glad we did. It was awesome! What an amazing sight! Still can't get over the piercing blue water! It is definitely worth going up Mount John for the beautiful breath-taking views from the top! Wished we had had more time so we couldhave hiked up to take... More

The most stunning lake I've ever seen. The water is a beautiful deep blue and the surrounding mountains finish off the picture perfectly. We took a boat trip to the centre of the lake, although it was fun it was un-necessary because the view doesn't get any better then it is at the shore. The little neighbouring church also provides... The view from the Mount John observatory is just stunning on a clear day - you can really see the difference in color between a regular lake and glacier-fed aquamarine Lake Tekapo. The alpine hot baths near the holiday park are also worth a visit. Very scenic, clean and relaxing More
