Taking the Barefoot Travelers Kayak Tour was one of the highlights of our visit to Puerto Rico. How many places in the world can you get into a kayak, head out on the ocean to a small island inhabited with over 1,000 Rhesus monkeys? Regardless of the fact that you know you are likely going to see one or many... More

This half day morning trip was the perfect capstone to our weeklong Puerto Rico family vacation. My brother wanted to do a kayaking trip so I found Barefoot Travelers among the many options, including Bio Bay, and decided that a trip to Monkey Island would be more interesting, memorable and less crowded. Love it when I'm right :-) Booking: Bob... More

Thank you so much for joining us on this experience and for your detailed and organized glowing review! One quick note to add about the time for paddling from the shore out to the Cayo-Monkey Island. It is roughly a 15-20 minute paddle to the island and the same back from the island. This of course varies based on winds... More

My husband and I stayed for two nights at Barefoot in January- it was clean, comfortable and very relaxing. We also took the kayak trip out to Monkey Island and loved it. Bob was very welcoming, hospitable and knowledgeable. We'd definitely recommend a stay and tour with Barefoot!

Bob and Keishya are wonderful people! And this trip is totally worth it. They do everything they can to make sure that you're informed, prepared, and ready to kayak. If you haven't kayaked recently or much at all, Keishya had some easy (arm/muscle-saving!) tips to make the kayaking so much enjoyable. Bring your camera or phone because they've got you... More

We visited Keishya and Bob a few years ago but we're not able to do kayaking because of the winds. Thank heavens we were able to do it this time! Who knew that we would be privileged to get a first class description of Monkey Island when we thought we would just get a chance to use some muscles? Keishya... More

Keishya was a fantastic guide - super enthusiastic and friendly! Only 4 of us on the tour so it was very personalized. We kayaked out to the island and anchored down in a shallow area. We watched a "crossing" of monkeys from about 50 yards away. Keishya was very knowledgeable and teaches you about the monkeys, the research and history... More

When we arrived at the crossover between the two island headlands, several dozen monkeys were clambering into the trees, preparing to make the crossing en masse. As the dozens became hundreds, they started, scouts and low-ranking first, along with a few skirmishes, and the main body protecting the high-ranking following behind. Apparently this was one troupe of two or three.... More

The wind was a little higher than usual but Bob and Keiysha told us everything we needed to know to make a decision about how we felt going. We decided to do it and DIDN"T regret it! It was a quick 15 minute paddle to the island, where the slight wind was blocked. We got out of the kayaks (standing... More

Excellent tour got to see monkeys and explore a shallow wreck 8' or less filled with fish and lobsters. Bob (guide) was very laid back didn't rush anyone at any point.
