Last came here some 40 years ago when I was at infant school; and didn't really expect much from memory so was delighted to find it was now an excellent day out with a five year old! We were lucky with a sunny day and the easter duck hunt was running, but there were so many activities our little one... More

Very efficient entry with lots to see, you can spend an hour or day here just wandering around the hides and grounds. On a cold and sunny Sunday afternoon, the hides were quiet but plenty to see with including avocets, great views of tree sparrows and ruff. Will revisit

There's plenty to see and do. There is a children's play area my grandchild loves it, There's a café with really good food and it overlooks the lake with a picnic area in a sheltered spot surrounded by the water. There are Canoe rides I think there was a £5 charge for this it may have gone up since my... More

We became members of Martin Mere and it is the best money we have spent. Our grandchildren love it. There is always something new to see or do and it is great fun for all the family. There are lots of picnic areas as well as a cafe, well stocked shop and friendly helpful staff to guide you. The play... More

Spent an interesting morning here during the week. The site has good car parking facilities, a nice centre with shop & cafe. It is split into 2 parts - the wildfowl gardens where you can see examples from other continents (which tends to be popular with families) and a quieter Nature Trial with a variety of bird hides overlooking lakes... We live locally and pay for family membership as a Christmas present for son and family, about the best value present on the planet, they all go many times in the year and during the holidays I can turn the children loose in the excellent play area and relax myself.

Always great advice available from the In Focus shop & help in identifying birds too. Plenty their for family visits too with children's play area, canoe rides, otters &... More

I visit for the bird watching but it's great to see families getting involved in the various activities around the reserve. The staff are very knowledgeable, there's lots of information available and a great café :)

Just been to Martin Mere, where the Wetland Centre has an excellent "rubber duck" hunt over the Easter holidays. Our granddaughter really enjoyed the experience. Lots of birds to see, and good developments at the centre over the winter. Cafe good for light lunches.

My wife and I visited after not being there for over 20 years. Still an excellent attraction. The only (small) issue I had was that once you get into Burscough there is only a very small brown sign past the railway station indicating that a left turn is needed. I was past it before I realised what it was. Signage... More
