I've played a lot of links golf in Scotland and Ireland. Doonbeg is an interesting twist in that it is a bent grass course that is highly manicured. Lovely views. Great young caddie named Steven that we had. A good test of your shot making skills. I was looking forward to picking up a shirt and hat with the Doonbeg... More

Great mixture of traditional links course and american manicured golf course. Very challenging holes and excellent caddies

Views from this course are spectacular. Our caddy was great. Course was in perfect condition. Watch out for those sand traps and tall grass though!

Great spectacular location but a bit above itself. The course recently lost some holes in the storm so without a caddie it was tricky to find our way around-could use some signage Charged $40 for a golf glove. No cold water available for drinking.

I just returned from Doonbeg and had the opportunity to play with my brothers and cousins. This was my first time playing a Links course and I don't think I could have picked a better place to start. The grounds are well maintained and the staff was excellent. As previous reviewers have mentioned, they don't allow golf carts due to... More

The first hole is dramatic. The course is long and at present buggies can only be used with a Caddie.Apparently someone on another course drove over a cliff with deadly result. This seems like an over reaction to me and an extra £50 to boot. We really enjoyed the course and each time we played it took about 5 hours.

Played a round of golf today - sunshine and no wind! Very unusual for the wild Atlantic Coast of Ireland. We had an excellent soup and sandwich lunch on the terrace - good wholesome food, and very attentive and friendly waiting staff. Will definitely be back!

The day before we flew, our agent told us that we would be getting a refund because some of the holes were damaged at the start of 2014. This made us concerned at what we would find and annoyed we had not been given the chance to make alternative plans. So we were not in the best frame of mind... More

Considering it is a top end golf / spa / leisure resort the restaurant facilities were very reasonable, wine top end of price list but food was excellent and not too expensive. Would recommend a visit.

My three Sons and I stayed and played at Doonbeg and Lahinch while staying at one of the delightful two (2) bedroom cottages. The course has sustained storm damage but is being quickly repaired and is still quite enjoyable. We found the staff at the hotel and pub very friendly and helpful. The food in the main dining room was... More
