The Monteverde Orchid Garden is a place where you can enjoy beauty that is found in the marvelous world of orchids. Our garden has a large collection of orchids; we have more than 425 different species. You can find species that are endemic to Monteverde, and a collection of miniature orchids, including the smallest one in the world. We offer guided walks both in English and Spanish. We are in a great location in down town Santa Elena.

A nice way to spend an hour. We were given a very knowledgable and interesting education on orchids. The guide spent about an hour teaching us how to identify an orchid and showing us lots of beautiful plants. A bit pricey at about $10 per person but worth it for a one-off trip.

Entrance fee includes quick guide visit. Lots of info with knowledgeable guide. Visited in April and had about 150 orchids flowering. Keep in mind that most of the flowers are extremely small and that's why they lend you a magnifying glass. It was worth my money. Don't forget to ask for your student discount!

We stopped in because we were in town and curious. We were wonderfully surprised. The guides were so information and the tour was great. We were so intrigued that we went back the next day. The birdwatching was also great. The staff were friendly and accommodating.

Tucked away behind a restaurant is a tiny gem of a garden. With an incredible number of orchids native to Costa Rica, over 400, this spot is well worth the visit. The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about orchids. I was able to get some stunning photographs of the diversity of orchids on display there.

This garden is tucked behind a restaurant so we couldn't see how big it was. We decided to take a chance anyway but had visions of getting in there and discovering it was just a couple of plants pots on a window ledge! It was the right decision. The garden is fairly small but crammed with (mostly native) orchids. The... More

We both live orchids and were looking forward to this tour. The tour guide is knowledgeable but it did feel rather like a record being played over again, robotic. The flowers are lovely & if you are an orchid fan you will know that the commercially sold big flowers are hybrids almost all true species are very small. Here they... More

We were impressed with the care the owners take of this garden and the knowledge of the tour guide. I grow orchids (an amateur), but never knew there were so many varieties nor how tiny so many orchids are. This was one of the "introductory overviews" my husband planned for our 'ecological' vacation in Costa Rica. It definitely served the... More

I highly recommend a visit to this small but super interesting garden. Our guide was VERY knowledgeable and funny which was an added plus! You won't believe how much you'll enjoy learning about orchids!

This small but well-focused operation is a miracle for casual orchid lovers. For us, the tour was very informative. For real experts, it may be superfluous.

looking at microscopic orchids thru a magnifying glass. Really? I felt embarrassed for the guide that was trying to make this an experience for us since we actually paid money for this. Most Lame experience I have had.
