The Monteverde Orchid Garden is a place where you can enjoy beauty that is found in the marvelous world of orchids. Our garden has a large collection of orchids; we have more than 425 different species. You can find species that are endemic to Monteverde, and a collection of miniature orchids, including the smallest one in the world. We offer guided walks both in English and Spanish. We are in a great location in down town Santa Elena.

We were impressed with the care the owners take of this garden and the knowledge of the tour guide. I grow orchids (an amateur), but never knew there were so many varieties nor how tiny so many orchids are. This was one of the "introductory overviews" my husband planned for our 'ecological' vacation in Costa Rica. It definitely served the... More

I highly recommend a visit to this small but super interesting garden. Our guide was VERY knowledgeable and funny which was an added plus! You won't believe how much you'll enjoy learning about orchids!

This small but well-focused operation is a miracle for casual orchid lovers. For us, the tour was very informative. For real experts, it may be superfluous.

looking at microscopic orchids thru a magnifying glass. Really? I felt embarrassed for the guide that was trying to make this an experience for us since we actually paid money for this. Most Lame experience I have had.

My wife wanted to see the Orchid Garden and we were walking by so we went in. Apparently the operator was giving a tour so we waited...and waited...and finally left.

Quaint small garden with a surprising variety of Orchids. We got a personalized tour of the garden by a guide and then got to roam on our own. Only need about an hour. Afterwards ate at the restaurant up front. It was a lovely visit - highly recommend.

Monteverde has more orchid species than Europe, Canada and the USA all together. Such a small area can have such large diversity. WOW! 513 orchid species already identified and if you visit Monteverde any given month there is an average of 45 to 65 orchids in bloom. But only 10% of those species grow on the ground, the rest grow... More

What I really liked about the Orchid Garden is that they don't try to have every orchid; they showcase the local ones, most of which are miniatures. When you walk in and buy your ticket, they give you a magnifying glass which you will love using. You go around with a docent/guide (ours was Sarah) and it helps so much... More

and overheard a young man as well and they give informative tours, with lots of information and answers to any questions you may have. We did this before our trip to the reserve which I would recommend, so that we knew a lot about orchids before going to Selvatura and the reserve itself. They give you a magnifying glass since... We had some extra time and this was close to the hotel so we decided to check it out. We aren't orchid buffs or flower nerds by any means so we were surprised how interesting the tour was. The tiny orchids are so intricate and the little facts about them are pretty interesting! A little expensive for our interest level... More
