We got picked up by 1 of the owners from out Hotel. As we drove he already started to explain how things worked and the Government policies on Coffee. Took a pretty much private tour. I learnt so much about the types of coffee, growth, saw the planation, the entire coffee plant is made just for the enviroment. It is... More

They picked us up at our hotel and then took care of us for a good three hours. Nice and friendly, knowledgeable and humbled. Ronny showed us the coffee plantation and told us all about their ecological way of making coffee. Everything they do they seem to do with concern for the environment and for fair trade. We definitely got... More

Costa Rican coffee is grown on predominantly small farms, or "fincas". As an optional activity during our stay at Santa Elena, our tour group visited one such local coffee plantation. A Central American coffee-growing country with a well-deserved reputation for fine coffee, Costa Rica produces wet-processed Arabica coffees. After being harvested, the ripe cherries are immediately taken to state-of-the-art processing... More

The tour did teach us a lot about coffee - different types, drying procedures, roasting, etc. However, I would recommend it even if you are not a coffee fan because it was about much more than just coffee. Our guide, Felix, was clearly passionate about the environment and how to best protect it. It was amazing to drink a cup... More

This tour was a nice surprise. The guide was very knowledgeable, friendly and fun. We viewed the coffee plantation, saw how chocolate is processed and even tried a taste of sugar cane alcohol. The views from this place are amazing!! Loved the cloud forest in this area.

Interesting and fun. Guillermo is passionate about running a sustainable operation and teaching others about it. We learned so much about how coffee grows and how it's harvested. Wonderful to know that school children come to learn there. And there were adorable baby animals on the farm. The tour ended with delicious coffee and pancakes. The excellence of this tour... More

The coffee tour was very nicely done! We learned a lot about coffee, cocoa and sugarcane. Our guide was friendly and informative. The coffee was delicious and so was our experience with cacao and chocolate!

The Monteverde Coffee Farm is one of a number of farms in a coffee farm coop. Joyce gave an educational and interesting tour of the farm, including a walk through the coffee and other plants (plantains, bananas, vegetables), and the barns (pigs, goats, chickens). After learning how the coffee is grown, picked, and processed, we were served great coffee and... More

This coffee tour is of a private, family-run business, NOT the corporate farms. At this fun and informative tour, small groups are lead through Victor's property (with an interpreter) and shown the history and process of coffee production. I will never look at coffee the same way! There was no pressure to buy Victor's coffee, but after tasting it at... More

We learned a lot and it was also very fun, I won't buy coffee the same way going forward. In addition of seeing the coffee, you also have the opportunity to "press" some sugar canes and some cacao beans. The gift shop at the end where they the coffee is good as well with reasonable prices.
