We weren't sure when the van picked up up how much fun this tour would be. But it turned out to be so informative, so beautiful, and so closely related to our little CSA here in America that we felt like we were kindred spirits. I loved to see step by step how these things are made, and were were... More

In addition to El Trapiche Tour, we (2 adults, 2 children) highly recommend this somewhat funky, less polished coffee tour. The tour provided insight into coffee growing and processing, but also, perhaps more importantly, into this unique organization through which farmers are experimenting with new coffee varieties and novel approaches to growing coffee. The group also provides unique educational experiences... More

I am an experienced home coffee roaster, and was interested in learning more about how the coffee is grown and how its place of origin creates unique tastes in each cup of coffee. We chose this tour because it is run by a cooperative of farmers and they are working very hard to be sustainable. We weren't disappointed. Felix clearly... More

I chose this coffee tour because it supports the farmers. They have a very good mission. You meet at the Monteverde Cafe (right next to CASEM and Whole Foods, across from Stella's) then you are driven out to the farm (which is technically in Santa Elena). Our guide, Eduardo, was very information. He took us through the whole process. We... More

The tour boasted about 3 tours in one, which were coffee tour, sugarcane demonstration and chocolate tour. While the guide talked about the process of coffee processing, the cocoa tour included pointing towards a cocoa tree and sugarcane demonstration included pointed towards a sugarcane plant. THAT WAS IT. We left after 45 minutes because it was such a waste of time.

If you want to learn all there is to know about coffee this is the place to visit. Of course this is your model fair trade sustainabiliy coffee farm - and unfortunaltely does not produce the "normal" coffee you will get at home; but believe me -you are going to look out for this kind of coffee once you are... A nice and very beautiful place with a very committed owner who, together with the family showed around on the farm. There turned out to be sugarcane and cocoa on the farm. Again, we got a nice review of the processes, for example the manufacture of chocolate

We were picked up at our hotel by Felix, our friendly and informative guide for the three-hour tour of the coffee plantation and cooperative roastery. Sustainability is at the heart of Monteverde Coffee's operations, from the swaths of forest that provide micro-organisms and windbreaks, to the living wage for the workers, to the biogas produced by manure from the pigs... First off, this trip ($30 per person) was NOT just a coffee tasting and was worth every penny. My husband and I were lead on a tour of the premises by a personable guide named Felix. Felix was not only friendly, but he had deep knowledge of the premises, coffee beans and the plant and animal life around the farm.... More
