My husband and I had a great tour of a local coffee - and mixed - farm with Felix. He was knowledgeable not just about coffee but about fair trade, farming sustainably, natural history and - to our delight - also the birds. We met the farmer who was also fluent in English and a very interesting man - and... More

Great and very informative coffee tour at a small plantage. The tour also included alot of sustainability features of the place and very interesting ways of doing things. Would recommend everybody who likes coffee but also people interested in small scale sustainable agriculture production.

When we signed up for this coffee tour, we had no idea what it would entail. I was expecting a traditional farm, with rows of coffee planted. Not on this sustainable plantation! Fruit trees abound around carefully hand-planted and diverse groupings of coffee. We meandered through the farm, sucking of freshly picked coffee fruits (so sweet!) and learning every aspect... We had a bi-lingual guide fluent in english and very knowledgeable. Picked us up on time and we spent more time than scheduled so got our money's worth. Strolled through part of the working co-op along paths between plants, through the sortin and drying barn and then taste testing a variety of preparations on site. Then off to a small... More

Beautiful property, great explanations by Felix, superb tasting by Guillermo, cute little kitten a bonus! Learning about coffee production in a personal manner away from crowds made a perfect afternoon.

If you love coffee, DO NOT MISS this tour! If you think you don't like coffee, this tour could change your life. We learned a lot, and got new and different information from the tour we took in Boquette, Panama, last year. Before and/or after, be sure to visit their brand new coffee shop and talk with Mauricio, the maestro... More

This was definitely one of the highlights of our trip! The tour is on one of the cooperative's coffee plantations where you will see the whole process going all the way from plant to brewed coffee. The plantation was a great example of how sustainable farming can be done. Compared to winery tours in the US, it was extremely refreshing... More

Felix is a great guide and you get a real feel for how coffee can add to and improve the local environment and economy. It provides a good understanding of what it takes to farm as sustainably as possible and what it takes to make a great product for us to consume at home. The passion and knowledge of the... More

Don Victor and his plantation will forever be one of my favorite experiences! He opened his business and philosophies to us. Share about how he planted banana trees to keep the monkeys busy and out of his coffee. He didn't mind sharing because it was their forrest first and the banana trees provided a wind break for his coffee plants.... More

I would definitely recommend doing the Monteverde coffee tour, your learn about sustainable and ecological farming, how to make coffee and you experience great coffee tasting. This all thanks to Ronny (the guide) and to the barrista. Ps, you also have 3in1 coffee-chocolate and sugarcan tours. Monteverde is not the area for chocolate, Arenal is.
