I chose this coffee tour because it supports the farmers. They have a very good mission. You meet at the Monteverde Cafe (right next to CASEM and Whole Foods, across from Stella's) then you are driven out to the farm (which is technically in Santa Elena). Our guide, Eduardo, was very information. He took us through the whole process. We... More

The tour boasted about 3 tours in one, which were coffee tour, sugarcane demonstration and chocolate tour. While the guide talked about the process of coffee processing, the cocoa tour included pointing towards a cocoa tree and sugarcane demonstration included pointed towards a sugarcane plant. THAT WAS IT. We left after 45 minutes because it was such a waste of time.

If you want to learn all there is to know about coffee this is the place to visit. Of course this is your model fair trade sustainabiliy coffee farm - and unfortunaltely does not produce the "normal" coffee you will get at home; but believe me -you are going to look out for this kind of coffee once you are... A nice and very beautiful place with a very committed owner who, together with the family showed around on the farm. There turned out to be sugarcane and cocoa on the farm. Again, we got a nice review of the processes, for example the manufacture of chocolate

We were picked up at our hotel by Felix, our friendly and informative guide for the three-hour tour of the coffee plantation and cooperative roastery. Sustainability is at the heart of Monteverde Coffee's operations, from the swaths of forest that provide micro-organisms and windbreaks, to the living wage for the workers, to the biogas produced by manure from the pigs... First off, this trip ($30 per person) was NOT just a coffee tasting and was worth every penny. My husband and I were lead on a tour of the premises by a personable guide named Felix. Felix was not only friendly, but he had deep knowledge of the premises, coffee beans and the plant and animal life around the farm.... More

My husband and I had a great tour of a local coffee - and mixed - farm with Felix. He was knowledgeable not just about coffee but about fair trade, farming sustainably, natural history and - to our delight - also the birds. We met the farmer who was also fluent in English and a very interesting man - and... More

Great and very informative coffee tour at a small plantage. The tour also included alot of sustainability features of the place and very interesting ways of doing things. Would recommend everybody who likes coffee but also people interested in small scale sustainable agriculture production.

When we signed up for this coffee tour, we had no idea what it would entail. I was expecting a traditional farm, with rows of coffee planted. Not on this sustainable plantation! Fruit trees abound around carefully hand-planted and diverse groupings of coffee. We meandered through the farm, sucking of freshly picked coffee fruits (so sweet!) and learning every aspect...
