Tortuga Island has a great sheltered beach which is perfect for swimming if your resort is a little on the wavy side. It is very pretty and wasn't crowded when we went. The downside is that you do have to pay for everything, including beach chairs and the restroom. They do give you a lot of options with kayak and... More

it's ok. the best part of our tortuga tour was the fact that we got a private boat there (through Pura Vida Expeditions). Great fish lunch, nice boat ride over. Snorkling is ok….if you have been to great snorkel places, then you may be disappointed.

Beautiful place! White sand beaches. Great swimming. Very neat gift shop. Lots of wildlife and palm trees. The snorkeling was great! So what the outhouses cost $1. What do you expect on an island... We would go back in a second. Just don't leave your stuff unattended on the beach. High tide comes in fast and the beach disappears. Bring... More

We enjoyed Tortuga Island following a snorkeling tour. The island was very pretty and we enjoyed lunch, jet skis and just relaxing in the sun. There were wild pigs and iguana on the island. The only disappointment was that we were charged for chair, and even to use the bathroom on top of the price of the excursion. Note that... More

You can rent the sun beds by the hour, a trip to the toilet will set you back $1 and the place is crowded with lots of boats with large numbers of day trippers. The snorkelling, if you arrive before the crowds, is good. The best idea is to find a boat that will take you to the snorkelling area... More

We loved going to Islas Tortugas! Our tour guides took us snorkeling by the rocks, and we saw gorgeous tropical fish (and a blue-footed booby, which bird-watchers were thrilled about). Add to that the fresh fruit we ate after swimming, and it made for a perfect day!

Hands down it's a must do in Costa Rica. Our tour guide was Morro who took us snorkeling and also made us a homemade dish. Its a 45 to an hour SPEEDBOAT ride which I reccommend over the catamaran that takes from 2-2.5 hours to get there. You have to buy your own liquor if you plan on drinking but... More

The trip was eventful and were so amazed at the abundance of fish. They were everyware and so colorful. The beach was white and small crabs scurried along the waters edge looking for food. The island was kept clean and had lots of beach area to sunbath.
