The ocean is beautiful and the sand soft & white. The staff on the boat, Tortuga Island Cruise, are extremely friendly and the boat is nice however that's all the positives I can mention. The food was terrible in my opinion and yes, you have to pay $7 to sit on a lounge chair! The boat ride back is very...

The ride to and from Tortuga was a good day journey. About 30 miles each way. Some interesting views along the way. Tortuga itself is not a great destination. I did not go into the water as I thought I could see red tide. Did go on the beach. Way over priced t-shirts and tourist stuff. Also anchorage was rough....

If you are not a first time snorkler then you will be disappointed. Water was cloudy, and not a great assortment of fish, plus it was extremely crowded. Island was beautiful, but they charge $7 per chair rental, lay on the sand instead. There was a fair amount of garbage floating in the water and i was stung by a...

The boat tour to Tortuga Island was awesome. They picked us up at the condo and drove us to Heradura Beach where we caught the small boat out to the big boat and were greated with Rum Punch. 90 minutes and a good breakfast later we were at Tortuga Island. A day or beautiful white sand beaches and blue water,...

We visited Curu Wildlife Refuge and Tortuga Island on November 6, 2012. It was a perfect time to be there....no crowds, barely any other people. Our tour guides were friendly and sweet. We had a delicious sandwich lunch and got to play with the domesticated boar on the beach. The snorkeling was beautiful - mostly clear water and tons of...

The snorkeling was very nice but the popular spots get very busy at times. This takes some of the fun out it.
Our snorkeling excursion with Dive Academy Ballena Blanca had our lunch break on Tortuga. Very pretty, food was prepared on the beach & was delicious. There's a little shop there for souvenirs which also sells cold cervezas!
Dont expect a St. John's like beach for snorkeling. Didn't look anything like the pictures. gets expensive as you pay for everything you want to do. There are tons better ways to spend $150 a person in Costa Rica. Pura Vida
This was really pretty. They know how to make the tourist pay and be sure to ask about the time of tour and the tide. Half way through snorkeling the tide came in and we had to get out because we got stung by these tiny jellyfish that are so small you really can't see them but you can feel...
