At this time year the Wild cat centre is closed but the Post Office (over the road) sells the guide. Worth while picking up as it adds some more info to the 10km walk. The Walk. Park at the train station and you'll be able to either do the complete 10km or cut it into manageable 5km bites. Each section... More

Quite excited about doing this. The day we visited the shop was shut. No map or info available. Found about ten or so cats but was disappointed that the woods that apparently had a few in, was flooded and inaccessible in parts. Shame but the booklet could perhaps be available more widely and it would encourage more participation.

Sorry you found the Wildcat Centre closed the day you visited. The attraction is a community project and the Centre is run by local volunteers, so we cannot guarantee there will always be someone on duty. . There is, however, a sign at eye level on the door indicating that the Wildcat Experience TrackPacks are also available at the Post... More

Nice 10k circular walk, not strenuous and can divide it down into sections. Liked the section along the river Spey in particular, goes through an SSSI meadow. Recommend you buy the walking guide from the wildcat centre in town, they serve it. Can do the walk without a guide as well signposted throughout

We rented a cottage in town and just found a map of the trail. We didn't go to the wildcat store to get the official wildcat map with the pictures. We mainly stayed on the trail that was on the hillside. It was a peaceful slightly hilly walk that the children and parents enjoyed. Some picturesque views and the wildcats... More

This was so much fun and a great way of exploring the village. Kids absolutely loved hunting for the cats and are five and eleven. The book and bag that comes with the pack are in daily use. I do hope the organisers take note of this however. i bought one pack between them, as a) the smaller child was... More

The family loved doing this trail. It was an interesting and fun way to see parts of a village one would not normally visit. We took a full morning and were looking for them at random through the week, found 67 of the 129. Children had great fun. We didn't give it five because the admin was a little drawn... More

Stayed here for the week so some time was had once we discovered the funny model cat on our hotel roof was part of a collection of 130 differently painted Wildcat models strewn around the village & countryside. This resulted in the children happily walking miles looking in all the gardens for as many as we could in the time... More

Great for adults and keeping fit. Search out all 129 Wildcats and do yourself a favour. Plenty of variety and hidden gems.get the guide and keep score. Kids love it too though; so let's keep it a secret.

We just returned from our second stint in Newtonmore, searching for the elusive wildcats. The trail itself is a good days walk if all routes are followed, providing plenty of opportunity to see the wild birds, red squirrels, pigs, sheep, horses, birds of prey and deer. The wildcat experience has a few of the cat models on the walk and... More
