I visited the Wies Church while on a tour provided by our hotel. The church is absolutely stunning inside. Our tour guide told us of its historical background which made the visit all the more interesting. The church is absolutely beautiful! There are a few small shops nearby to buy souvenirs. There's also a restaurant right next door. The Wies... More

We were visiting Bavaria with friends who visit there every year. They told us that we had to visit a gorgeous church. In 1738 tears were seen on a wooden statue of Jesus near the site. A small church was built for it so that the pilgrims could visit the sculpture. The church was too small for the crowds and... More

It's a little off the beaten path, but not far from all the castles in the Fussen area. Rumor has it that tears were seen on a carved wooden of Christ. The current church, built in a rococo, Italianish style is a beautiful homage to the miracle of the tears. It should be on your "must see" list is you... More

This was a church that could be seen to represent the pinnacle of the Rococco style, in an amazing location, surrounded by green fields. It is a UNESCO world heritage site, and definitely worth visiting.

We took back roads to Wies church (count on our GPS to make it interesting) and began to doubt we had the right location when suddenly the church came into view. The inside of the church is beautiful. It is probably one of the more ornate churches I have ever visited. It actually was quite easy to get to as... More

I love churches. I love "baroque/rococco". So I was in heaven at Wies Kirche. It is well worth the detour. The church is all white with very intricate fresco.

If you are driving from Munich to Neuschwanstein castle, be sure to stop by the Wies Church, a Rococo jewel on the way that is a UNESCO world heritage site. Beautifully maintained, it has lovely late Baroque/Rococo paintings. If you are Catholic, there is a relic of St. Crescentia and the painting of the scourge of Jesus is said to... More
