We wanted to visit one of the gorges of France and luckily our hosts recommend Gorges d'Heric. It was about a two hour hike, up the gorge (one hour return) on an old rail bed that had been subsequently converted to a road serving the tiny village of Heric, which is located at the top of the gorge. The gorge... More

Visited here twice during our stay in Langue Doc. Get there early on in the morning if you want to get a good spot, also it is better walking when it isn't as hot! Great views and lovely place Shaded in the afternoon

Enjoyable gentle walk up to the top. There are natural pools of various sizes around as you walk which you can have a refreshing swim in. Was expecting different something at the top like some kinda scenery or swimming, but it was a nice enough café to get a drink and sandwich in.

We read about this in the book at our rented villa. We had my Mum with us and as it was so hot, some of us made a base camp near the bottom of the river. Not much water but lovely cool pools. The others walked all the way to the top only to find that the promised waterfall had... More

we enjoyed gorges as it is not only beautiful but also you can choose a place for a nice bathing/swimming to make a pause :))) parking is 5 euro with a small bar in its territory.

Beautiful scenery, Reasonable parking, cafe at the bottom and the top...accessible to most modestly fit ... and some superb natural swimming as nature intended. Fantastic for all. Easily spend the whole day here, meandering up the gorge, with a picnic lunch and a book for when taking a breather is in order. It gets very busy on hot days especially... More

Really lovely afternoon spent swimming in the Rock pools and lounging reading books on the rocks. Beautiful spot to bring a picnic and just hang out.

The Gorge is popular with both climbers and walkers. There is a (relatively) easy tarmac path all the way to a café at the top taking around 2 hours and a simply spectacular circular walk ascending about 1,000m (1,300 doing the full circuit with a drop and re-ascent) taking an improbable line through the cliffs. The café in the car... More

I'm so glad that we got the opportunity to visit Gorges d'heric. We are a family of 4 (daughters were 6 and 8 at the time of visit) and we all had a wonderful time. We got there early in the morning (in July) and didn't find it to be too crowded. We stopped several times to swim and of... More

We had heard of the gorge and planned a walk up it and onto the hill tops above it. We didn't realise the gorge is a madly popular set of swimming pools in the river. The place got crazy busy in the afternoon. So if you plan to go try to get there early so that you get a parking... More
