Popped in here after a trip to the pools for our 2.5 year old to have a look at the animals. Mum, dad, 2.5 year old and a 5 month old (free) with a bag of food cost $32. Although it was a pleasant hour or so out with my son enjoying feeding the animals I thought it was a... More

After the busyness of the hot pools the day before we thought we would enjoy a calmer day visiting the farm animals. We paid our entrance fee and decided to buy a bag of animal food (only S2) too. We both love animals and even though we don’t have kids, thoroughly enjoyed our time there. They all looked well cared... More

The Wai ariki Animal Farm is a short drive from Hanmer Thermal Pools so why not take the time after having a relaxing morning. The fee was $35 for 2 adults and children. Animal feed is $2 a bag and well worth that price. It is a petting zoo but also a few animals like maybe a sheep or 2... More

My husband and I visited today on a bit of a grey day. An easy 15 minute walk from Hanmer but just far enough away from the busy tourist centre, it is an oasis of quiet and peace. For anyone who loves animals this is a gentle way to spend an afternoon with wallabies - who if you are still... More

Loved seeing all the animals around and the horse ride. However was dissapointed in how rude the owners were when i enquired about things eg. The horse cart taxi just got a really rude response, wasnt my fault the new owners hadn't at the time updated website and brochures etc.

Spent 3 hours with our NZ Grandchildren who were in paradise! The grounds were immaculate and the children could run free without us having to worry. We all fed the animals who are remarkably tame and very entertaining. The setting was quite breathtaking and we loved sitting up on the porch where we had some delicious home baking and coffee.... Came with friends who had their kids, the kids LOVED it, a bit smaller than expected and the animals could do with more space and shade however the man at the front desk was lovely and helpful. It wasn't too busy when we went either which was good. A few enclosures with nothing in them or the wrong thing in... More

Great place to take the family. We had 5 children (7 -13) with us and still managed to have a leisurely lunch. Children had a blast with the animals. Animals were well looked after and enjoyed the human interaction. We were able to supervise the children from the deck. Good food, coffee and service. We would definitely stop by again.

I have visited Wai Ariki three times now and each time one discovers yet another treasure! Today is was Bob- the pony. Bob joins a group of lucky and happy, relaxed animals -many of which you would never get to see close up- let alone cuddle, feed, pet, and share a seat with! It's hard to pinpoint exactly the majesty of this little... More
