We offer a number of different kayaking and stand up paddle board options from our great waterfalls trip to our evening glow worm experience, just flick through our website to get a better idea for whats available. Lake Karapiro offers an exellent venue with sheltered waters and 15 km of lake to explore. making it a safe and beautiful environment to try something new. our guides and instructors are fully qualified in both flat water and graded river paddleing so if your wanting to explore some of the lower sections of the waikato river between cambridge and hamilton youll be in safe hands. The Boatshed kayaks is also involved in multisport training and hire and has been training grade 2 paddlers for over 8 years, with a huge number of paddlers experiencing their introduction to kayaking through The Boatshed. The ethos at the Boatshed has always been on getting people out there paddling, young and old, and therefore growing kayaking as a sport or recreational activity. « less

We would recommend the glow worm kayak trip to anyone looking for something completely different and absolutely amazing. We are a family of 4 and shared 2 double kayaks which was great fun with our teenagers. The guys running the trip were really great and looked after us well. The water was like glass and the scenery was beautiful. We... More

This was the most magical trip! The gentle kayaking, the scenerey, the bonfire, the wine & cheese (and marshmellows to toast), the tranquility of drifting silently along viewing the glow worms and the stars above. This was a truely relaxing, enjoyable and very well run adventure. Absolutely recommend it. Beautiful. R & N, Pokeno :-) More

We hired the kayaks for the afternoon and after some instructions and tips from Elliot we set off armed with our map to explore. We paddled along the shore line and then went to find the waterfalls. If we hadn't been told about them in a briefing we would never have realised they were there! Once in the estuary the... More

My wife and I went on this trip almost accidentally, and we are very happy that we did that. It is an awesome experience, which included 2 * 30 minutes of kayaking into a very secluded nature of the central New Zealand. Kayaking in the darkest of the nights among the glow worms !!!! I always thought that it is... More

Did this trip last weekend, it was awesome, a different experience from regular kayaking due to it being at night with glow worms. Elliot the guide was knowledgable and friendly as were his assistant guides and stopping half way through for cheese & crackers, wine, and toasted marshmellows on the fire really added to it. Definitely recommend doing this! More

We went on the Glowworm trip and it was fantastic, beyond our expectations and a trip that we would recommend to both New Zealanders and especially to overseas visitors. The scenery is wonderful and the glow worms are truly spectacular, as good as if not better than Waitomo. A real outdoor experience which works for all ages (marshmallows for some,... More

A very well run guided kayak trip. our guides were excellent - warm, friendly and w didnt even get our feet wet! The kids absolutely loved it and the scenery is amazing. Loved the fact that is was a little bit challenging in parts but totally safe and toasting marshmallows with a glass of wine added a superb touch to... More
