This attraction is actually part of Wookey Hole Caves. The paper mill was deserted when we went in and by the looks of it has been deserted for some time. In fact most of Wookey Hole seemed deserted.

We really enjoyed this part of Wookey! Watching this Master of his trade make paper was very interesting. The depth of knowledge he had was superb! We never really new you can also make paper from old denim! Long may you continue show casing this ancient trade!

Man was nearly 10 minutes late, but we did see him later emptying the bin and cleaning, it looks like everyone chips in and is constantly working. L We were there first so got to see the hemp and shredded denim, next to the paper, there is some information, but it would of been nice for some more information about... More

In the mill we ate in the quite reasonable cafeteria, saw the Circus show put on by the circus school which was excellent, had fun in the mirror maze, let the kids play in the soft play area and had a bit of fun in the antique arcade. The whole place seems a little behind the times but that kind... More

we stumbled into this area of the site having missed the last presentation of the day but we did enjoy seeing the machines, materials and tools employed to make the wonderful handcrafted paper that they historically produce. We did watch a good video, on the site overall, while we in this section.

A staff member in period costume demonstrates how paper used to be hand made and lets the kids have a go afterward. There is a display of the old machinery that was once used in the making of paper - from rags to the finished product. Quite interesting.

It was interesting but the girl who carried it out, whilst very knowledgeable, was clearly in a hurry. We had two children with us who were looking forward to making some paper, as was on offer, but she just finished her talk and demo and left. They were very disappointed

This was in the advert for WOOKEY Hole and the grandchildren had been looking forward to watching it for a school project and it was not in operation. A notice said that due to the age of the machinery it was unprepared. Given that it was a school holiday that we visited I would have expected that the staff would... More
