Very informative boards detailing various aspects of the castle's history. Well worth a visit if you are interested in Richard III.

I have always wanted to see Middleham Castle and I was not disappointed. Although in ruins, there is more than enough to be able to imagine it was like in Richard's heyday. There was plenty of walls for children to climb plus a staircase all the way up the keep to get the best views of the castle and surrounding... More

An historic piece of English history - sadly much a ruin now and despite being under English Heritage guardianship is somewhat lacklustre and could do with a makeover for 2015 to provide more for kids to do. Also think price of admission could put visitors off.

Very nice castle - steps, nooks and crannies to explore - worth going round. Our six year old loved it and found all kinds of rooms and entrances and nooks. I think it was too expensive though - over £11 for two adults and a child.

When visiting the market town of Leyburn, in Wensleydale, North Yorkshire, the time taken to visit Middleham Castle is well worth it. while the visitors centre the reception you'll get is both friendly and helpful, the usual items of memorabilia can also be purchased. The castles grounds are well kept, as is the norm for English Heritage attractions. The castle... More

The castle is quite small and mainly a ruin. If you are in a Heritage then it is worth a visit but the fee otherwise is expensive. £15 for an hour max. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Can't help thinking that the place could be brought to life a bit more for the kids.

Friendly staff in the gift shop, gave lots of information. A lovely walk round the castle, although mainly a ruin there is lots to see, fantastic views. Very child friendly as well.

Middleham castle was the childhood home of Richard 3rd. Interesting castle ruins but they could have done a lot more with it. There are a couple of information boards but with no audio tour, the castle struggles to overcome the somewhat lacklustre approach to promoting its charms. Worth a look but be prepared for a surprising lack of atmosphere and,... More

I loved the atmosphere here - the views were lovely, the village pretty and the castle itself wasn't too commercialised, but still gave you plenty of information. It is big and there are lots of little nooks and crannies to explore (mostly turning out to be old latrines, but hey!) You can climb right up to the tower and it... More
