No, sadly not my son! Well, there is a statue of him - well most of him! Middleham is a charming place, I really love this corner of Wensleydale. It was cold, wet and very, very windy! However the town was busy - only a few spaces left on the market place. We followed the signs along the high street... More

Lovely old ruin but very atmospheric. Great view from the tower. Easy parking either directly outside (obviously if not busy) or nearby in the town. Middleham is a delightful little town with nice pubs/restaurants. So lovely to see the racehorses too. Well worth a visit to this delightful place.

visited this castle in the past when it was either free or vastly cheaper entry, way too expensive now at £4.60 each to enter! especially as its just a ruin and not enough to see

The guide book is very good and using this with a little imagination you can imagine how these people from the past would have lived. The view from the top is spectacular so say my companions I wouldn't know I'm scared of heights.

The ruins give a great insight into how impressive this castle must have been in the time of Richard III and earlier owners. A few more information boards would have been appreciated. The staff were really helpful, polite and friendly. Plenty of good food and beverages on offer in Middleham just a short walk from the castle.

Visited with 7 year old at the end of the day. What an amazing place! It's fairly intact with plenty of stairs to explore and a tower to view from. Good display in the shop about the families who lived there including Richard III. Had a very good discussion with the staff member about where Richard's remains should have been... More

Run by EH so free if members. Lovely old ruin. Great for kids to run around. If you want to learn about the history buy a guidebook for £2.99.Otherwise just wander and enjoy. Amazing views from the top tower. Can park right outside the castle if not busy. Make sure you have a quick wander around the town too as... More

A stunning castle with incredible views across the countryside. It was quiet when we visited so were not rushed at any point. Lots of time to wander about and climb the steps to the top of the battlements which ought not to be missed. Great location, lovely staff, brilliant visit!

Before the negatives here are my positives. Excellent castle with fantastic views, lovely location, great history and very helpful staff, all that you've come to expect from an English Heritage Site. However, I can't help but feel a little let down. Seeing as this was Richard III's favorite northern home I was expecting more, maybe more information about the king.... More
