Lovely setting to enjoy

Loved the whole atmosphere and staff, dishes can be quirky only thing not fussed about is the bread, would prefer something softer, but that's personal taste.

We explored the village and being English heritage members visited the castle, my children loved it, nice to see the ruins but also nice to see all the artefacts, the audio tour was great. We pent a good hour exploring the ruins, views were livly to.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Helmsley Castle. I would advise using the free Audio Tour as it really gave a detailed description of the history of the Castle. Follow up with cake and a cup of tea in the cafe to round off your trip.

A beautiful little village with the castle set in Duncombe park at the back. There is a moat with a running river through the village and a little bridge over toward the castle. The castle is largely ruins but was an amazing building in its day and a lot of it can still be seen. The chamber building is still... More

As you approach Helmsley the skyline is dominated by the ruins of the tower of Helmsley castle. When you park your car you are again faced with the castle ruins. You enter the castle via the English Heritage visitor centre which is also the tourist information centre. The site is dominated by the castle ruins and the grounds are well... More

The crumbling tower of Helmsley Castle overlooks the pretty little market town and is only a short walk from the market square. Little of the castle outer defences remain and most of the buildings are little more than a shell so you have to use a good deal of imagination to picture them in the days when this was a... More

Our grandson is a great fan and we have visited often. There is a surprisingly intact room with furniture and great features. The grounds are well maintained and it makes for a great visit any time.

Spectacular sight towering above Helmsley but limited amount to see and of interest. Good car parking, but charges apply, nearby. Tourist shop is good and conveniently situated.
