After having discovered that The Rock was once the capital of Santorini and created by the Venetians, i had to visit. The remains and foundations of the buildings evidence what once was a great historic city in a spectacular setting! Great for spending an afternoon there and watching the sunset

Excellent work out for quads. No really, it was not that bad. The ruins are really cool and there are a bunch of neat surprises on the back side not to mention the view.

Once you find the path, its a trek down a steep and in places broken flight of steps. The rock itself is covered in ruins and the summit is only accessible with rock climbing skills. Take strong shoes, water and be good with heights if you want to visit here, but you will be rewarded with a fabulous view of... More

I had read the reviews and expected an easier walk/climb. It is a good workout and intense although you can go from La Maltese Hotel to Skaros in less than 30 minutes. The view from the top of the rock is AMAZING. I read reviews of people going up there at night although I did not do that and would... More

There are no extra signs of the hiking trail. But it is not difficult to find the way if you are on hiking path from Fira to Imerovigli. The path is not extra secured and it is made from two ways. First path leads to the back of the rock to a small but beautiful church with stunning view from... More

It's just a rock...with a nice little church round the back, really! Views are good, though. And you'll feel a little less guilty about having 3 courses at lunch.

Its further than it looks! But if a young girl in her wedding dress can do it so can most people! It isn't signposted so you might not find the path too easily though you will adore the views when you get there. The top of the rock requires some climbing so very few actually go there.

The views from the Rock are great. We did this on our last day at the island and staring at it for 3 days, I really wanted to get to the top since it looked like a cool spot to see the island and surrounding area from. However, once you hike up to the main part of the rock, the... More

A quick detour from the main Fira to Oia route, down and up some steps, I would say the rock probably affords the best views of the caldera. Can be a bit scary if windy though!

There are no signposts and little in the way of safety measures, but the walk out to the rock, about 45min from Thira, is a MUST when visiting Santorini. The afternoon we went, clouds gathered around Imerovigli and we only saw the rock about half way down the path. Out there, the views of the caldera are unbeatable. Keep going... More
