The hike is very scenic and only moderately hard but to get to the top it is quite a climb for the last 20 meters or so. We went hang gliding last year in Chamonix which was not as scary as getting up the last few meters to the top of skaros. But it was worth it.

This was an awesome hike! It was extremely easy to access from my hotel, but folks not staying in Imerovigli might have a little difficulty reaching it. It's worth it, though. For those with enough courage (or stupidity), you can climb up to the very top of the rock. I was one such hiker and got some great pictures. There... More

No sunset would be the same without including Skaros :) It is a pretty nice hike, just follow some steps and you 'll make some pretty unique pictures of the caldera along the way. What else can I say? Explore! Go there!! Another beauty that makes me proud to be Greek.

Very historic rock with easily visible ruins from the former castle and homes. Worth climbing to the top to get a stellar panorama photo of the coastline. Make sure to start the hike up no later than 8:30 AM, so that the sun isn't in your eyes while trying to take pictures of the island. Had a lot of photos... More

Dominates the landscape outside of Fira. Lots of steps down and therefore up but worth it for the achievement of it all

Exciting views from the top - you can see the whole coast of the island. Get better shoes - slippers wont work there. The rock is not difficult to reach but last 10 meters require some effort since you need to climb, not walk. But it worth it!

Make sure you plan a walk to Skaros and then maybe continue on foot through Firostefani and Fira. You can watch the sunset from Skaros, be prepared to climb one rock in order to reach the top.

Walking shoes at the ready, absolutely no flip flops! Lovely walk, steps up and if your brave enough, scramble up the last 3 meters to summit for the most amazing views. A path wraps round the decent and you can divert to the small church. Stunning. Climb early morning or after 1600

For a rock with no safety precautions this challenges many amateurs on the island of Santorini. A groomed path leads to the lower church area, but those who want to climb the rock must find their way over the rocky path and climb the sheer rock face for the last 3-4 meters. Help getting back down may be needed, so... More
