We did this and we're so glad that we did! Our guide claimed to not speak a lot of English, but I think he was just being shy, because he did great! The animals were mostly hiding the day that we went, but we did see some Howler Monkeys and a few others. We did see about 5 million ants... More

We went with two families (4 adults and 3 kids 11-14) on a horseback ride through the jungle. The ranch is very nice, the jungle is beautiful, the guides are friendly and knowledgeable and the horses are very well taken care of. I can't think of anything I didn't like. One of us had some riding experience the rest hardly... More

I went on an afternoon beach ride. I had my own guide, Esteban, who was awesome, and a very nice horse, Gitano. Esteban knew many plants and animals around the ranch and really took care of my preferences and the horses well being. For a refresher we stopped at a palm tree and Esteban got some coconut, the one I... More

We had a fantastic time during our rainforest hike. The tour guide was knowledge and very friendly. He spoke English well (which is good since our Spanish is shaky at best). They served us home made banana bread and juice when we got back. Overall, we had a great experience. We would definitely suggest this place to others and plan... More

My blog post has the pictures and video: http://www.bohotravelmama.com/rancho-la-merced The first thing I added to my post-break-up bucket list was to ride a horse on the beach at sunset. Two years later this dream became a reality at Rancho La Merced in La Uvita de Osa, Costa Rica. This was the first thing on my itinerary and if this was... More

My husband and I went on a jungle ride up to the water falls. The ranch is very pretty and clean. The staff was great and very accommodating. The length of the ride was perfect and the price was very reasonable. At the waterfalls you get to stop and swim if you want. We also saw howler monkeys just before... More

We went with a family of five for a morning ride. We had a good two hour ride through the jungle, crossing small rivers, and on the beach. Our guide was great in showing us the animals hiding in the jungle, and taking care of the youngest (6) so she could ride safely. Once on the beach everyone was free... More

My grandchildren wanted to go horseback riding during our family trip to Costa Rica. Rancho La Merced was recommended as it was close to Dominical and did beach rides. The guides were excellent. They asked everyone's level of riding experience and chose horses accordingly. We rode first on trails where we could see capuchin monkeys, birds and the natural beauty... More

Friendly and knowledgable guide took us through the rain forest pointing out plants and wild life. Then we hit the beach where we were allowed to cantor (based on experience riding) and cool the horses down in the water. The guide cut coconuts from a beachside tree and we were refreshed by the coconut water! Upon return to the farm,... More

We took the beach horseback ride tour - it was such a fun and unique experience, I would definitely recommend doing this if you have a chance. Got to see a lot of great wildlife and got to take the horses for a nice run on the beach. Our tour guide was fantastic. He was really adept at finding and... More
