My blog post has the pictures and video: http://www.bohotravelmama.com/rancho-la-merced The first thing I added to my post-break-up bucket list was to ride a horse on the beach at sunset. Two years later this dream became a reality at Rancho La Merced in La Uvita de Osa, Costa Rica. This was the first thing on my itinerary and if this was... More

My husband and I went on a jungle ride up to the water falls. The ranch is very pretty and clean. The staff was great and very accommodating. The length of the ride was perfect and the price was very reasonable. At the waterfalls you get to stop and swim if you want. We also saw howler monkeys just before... More

We went with a family of five for a morning ride. We had a good two hour ride through the jungle, crossing small rivers, and on the beach. Our guide was great in showing us the animals hiding in the jungle, and taking care of the youngest (6) so she could ride safely. Once on the beach everyone was free... More

My grandchildren wanted to go horseback riding during our family trip to Costa Rica. Rancho La Merced was recommended as it was close to Dominical and did beach rides. The guides were excellent. They asked everyone's level of riding experience and chose horses accordingly. We rode first on trails where we could see capuchin monkeys, birds and the natural beauty... More

Friendly and knowledgable guide took us through the rain forest pointing out plants and wild life. Then we hit the beach where we were allowed to cantor (based on experience riding) and cool the horses down in the water. The guide cut coconuts from a beachside tree and we were refreshed by the coconut water! Upon return to the farm,... More

We took the beach horseback ride tour - it was such a fun and unique experience, I would definitely recommend doing this if you have a chance. Got to see a lot of great wildlife and got to take the horses for a nice run on the beach. Our tour guide was fantastic. He was really adept at finding and... More

We went on the beach tour and had a blast. After a short ride through the jungle with explanations of various plant, trees and animals we led our horses on to the beach. Guide let us explore the area as we wanted and let the horses run as often as we felt comfortable. There is no feeling like riding through... More

My husband, daughter and I had a great time on the horseback riding tour to the water falls. I had never been on a horse before but quickly got the hang of it. We saw howler and white face monkeys in addition to birds and insects. Our guide didn't speak the greatest English but we managed to understand each other.... More

We had a nice tour with Rancho La Merced. Our 5 year old son was able to ride his own horse (for the second time on our vacation) and he was loving it. Our tour guide was great and helped us spot some wild pigs and other animals along the trail. The water was very high and fast on the... More

We chose the horseback riding tour to the waterfall. The facility is well kept, with bathrooms, a place to sit, and a shop. The staff was very friendly. Horses looked happy, healthy, and well kept for. Went through a peaceful ride through fields and dense forests and then ended up at a waterfall. Our guide tied up the horses and... More
