We decided to go horseback riding once we found out that Rancho La Merced treated their horses well. It was my first time horseback riding (my husband has been before). We did the 2/3 hour ride into the jungle to the waterfall and it was AMAZING. We even went through a few streams to get there, it was really adventurous!... More

The ride to the waterfalls is excellent! The property is very well maintained. The horses are very well trained. Ernesto was a great guide and made the trip! I would highly recommend the trip!

We signed up for a morning ride. It turned out to be a private ride. Eavaristo was a great guide. He made sure everything was alright. The horses were well cared for. The scenery was spectacular. This ride was a great way to get to see the jungle in an undisturbed way. Be ready to get a little wet though.... More

My boyfriend and I signed up for a private horseback ride along the beach on the last day of our vacation in Costa Rica. I am so glad we did!! It was an incredible 2-hour ride through the beautiful jungle reserve and we spent plenty of time along the beach. Evanisto was our guide. He was cheerful, knowledgeable and nice... More

Beautiful ride through the jungle opens up onto Playa Hermosa! Our ride south took us to the mouth of the river and then back north showed us the sunset! Our guide, Reista (not sure if I spelled his name right, so sorry), taught us about the flora and fauna along the trails. The Howler monkeys greeted us and beautiful green... More

I went on two horse excursions in Costa Rica, and have done many more in other countries. This is by far my favorite. The horses are so well cared for, and are in good shape. They have over forty horses to do tours with at the ranch, so the horses aren't overworked. My guide was "Risto" (I forget his full... More

We were looking for a place where to ride horses in the area and we trusted the high ratings on TripAdvisor. We had 2 activities: 1st was a beach ride that we took private. In fact, we know how to ride and we wanted to enjoy some high speed galops on the beach. and we could! We came back full... More

I highly advise reservations, I was able to beg my participation in a family horseback adventure...Esteban and Leandro were the tour guides and were very sweet with 2 young children, great at spotting toucans, iguanas, spiders, plants, etc., Ismael is the reception/manager that day and was the force behind my being able to ride despite no reservations and not being...
