we generally avoid getting out during long week ends due to the rush factor. but this time we thought of trying as an exception and booked our rooms well in advance at Mahindra Sherwood for Mid August. Must say, this Hill station is certainly a notch above Matheran and Lonavala if someone is planning a driving getaway from Mumbai. The... More

The hill station about 250kms from the financial capital of India i.e. Mumbai is a must visit place for the nature lovers. Can be approached through the rail upto Pune, the nearest railhead(about 120 kms from Mahabaleshwar) follwed by bus or taxi. It can be also reached directly from Mumbai through the private as well as Government buses which takes... More

We friends went decided to go on a long weekend trip. First we went to Lonavala, drive was lovely, serene. However, due to over crowd due to long weekends it took 3 hours to reach tiger point. However, once we were at Tiger point it was beautiful. When we came back to our Lonavala Hotel we decided to check out... More

The twin towns Mahabaleswar and Panchgani can can either be reached from Mumbai via Goa road-Poladpur or via Pune-Wai. There are a number of average to 3-4 star hotels and resorts to stay. a 2-3 nights stay would be enough for the local sight seeing and some excursions. My two trips covered almost everything except the Vijaygarh fort. There are... More

The main market area is conjested, but you may park your car at either end and stroll on foot. Would not advise buying dresses & footware, as they are costlier than in Pune / Mumbai !

Heard a lot about Mahabaleshwar, visited this place in monsoon July 2014, was an average place since I have visited better places in Himachal/Uttaranchal and North-east. Nice weekend getaway for people staying in Pune/Mumbai..however people from far-off places can avoid especially the over-crowded weekends. It was raining heavily so visibility was limited, however monsoon is the best time to visit.... More

I had heard so much about the famous mahabaleswar & pachagni. But it was nothing short of dissapointment for me. First of all, the place is swarming with people. It gets so crowded on a weekend that it would like take you an hour and half to navigate through a road by car to reach the actual place. If you... More

Mahabaleshwar is the largest hill station in the Sahyadri range of Maharashtra state. It is situated at an altitude of 1372 m above seal level in Satara district, about 115 km southwest of Pune. Due to its high altitude, the town has a cool climate and offers many pleasant walks. There are several lookout points which offer spectacular views of... More
