Very interesting tasting experience. The wine evangelist was great, informed and educated us. We had enough time to taste and enjoy the wine. I didn't really understand the pool in the winery. The wines were OK. Little too pricey and some not worth it. But the overal experience was good. Would definitely come back.

Black Hills Winery is more of a potential "franchise" then a local winery in Oliver. It is a beautiful venue with some tasty wines. But the wines are more expensive than they should be. There are at least 250 owners of this winery which contributes to the lack of "wanting their clientele to return." Frankly, they don't seem to care... More

Sunset Happy Hour 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Make a date and mark it on your calendar! We were invited to sit in a cabana beside the pool and savour and enjoy Black Hills wines in a guided tasting using varietal specific Riedel glassware. We really enjoyed this educational and enticing wine tasting experience with exceptional current releases. Further to... More

Looking for a wine tasting on another level? This place will make you feel special. First off, the grounds and setting were stunning. The servers are called 'Evangelists', however, they did not have to convert me as I have been a follower of this wine for many years. Take the Portfolio tasting($20) for an overview of all their wines, (with... More

There is nothing wrong with charging for tasting, but the experience for us was too much and very forced, the wine was over priced for what we tried, and honestly the tasting of wines which are "off limits" to buy was very pretentious. I honestly think this place plays people like a fiddle, so we left without any wine!

Walking in and having a mandatory seated tasting (at $10 per person) was not the best welcome. It is treated more as a restaurant environment (they do also make food), but if you just want a casual tasting, I would not recommend this. Trying not to smile when our "wine evangelist" was introduced was a chore. Come on.

One of the best winery to visit if you want to learn about wine. You sit down and discuss each wines with their "wine evangelist" with an amazing view on the pool and the Valley

Absolutely enjoyed our lunch at Black Hills. We both ordered pizzas and they were perfect for lunch. We each ordered a glass of wine with lunch and they were lovely. There was no pressure to do a tasting or to buy more. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. While we didn't do a tasting it was fun and educational to... More

We got there at around 12.30 for our scheduled tasting to follow with lunch. We combined the two events. We started with whites and moved to reds. We are familiar with their Alibi, Viognier and Cellar Hand White. They were sold out of Chardonnay. We then moved to reds. We tasted the Carmenere - sold out, Syrah - excellent and... More

Black Hills takes a different approach to their wine tasting than most of the wineries in the area. You can opt for either a $10 or $20 tasting, led by an experienced person, with more generous pours (though we did get a complimentary Alibi pour while we debated doing a tasting). Most of the wineries in the area don't charge... More
