Lovely sandy beach, clean and sheltered, rock pools and gently shelving. Other bays to explore, good eateries and lots of views and cafés from which to enjoy them.

We love this beach. It is easy to walk to the town ( great for the restless granddad who likes to explore the interesting shops), lovely sand for sandcastle building, a quaint funfair which is ideal for younger children, fab beach huts, and the cove setting makes it great for sea swimming. We also love it for walking on in... More

We went in February - it helped that the sun was shining! Beautiful beach with really nice sand and lots of dog walkers. I can't wait to go back in the summer!

The most beautiful bay in England - stunning, enchanting, historical, Victorian, classic - not enough verbs to describe how much I absolutely love this place - makes Sunday walks the best - yesterday was a surge day - so the beach was very busy - and very small as the tide was in so high. The view from the cliffs... More

This beach is quite near to my home and is always bustling in the summer months. It is clean and tidy and very picturesque. The beach is excellent for families as there is a play area. There is also wheelchair/pram access for those that need it. Overall a lovely beach that is extremely busy during the summer months.

Viking Bay is worth a visit in the Summer, when it is inevitably busy, but also all year round when the skies and sea can look spectacular, and the pubs and restaurants are less busy, but still welcoming and most serve excellent value food, try the tarter frigate for a bar lunch or the restaurant upstairs fro something a little... Broadstairs seems untouched by time and is completely different to both Ramsgate and margate both of which have their attractions but is an excellent base for trips to both. It has some excellent restaurants and a lovely if small sandy beach and liked it so much I bought a house there !!

Amazing atmosphere on a chilly winter's evening, with lots of families, sparklers and fluorescent light treats for the kids. absolutely epic firework display, non stop and worth the walk down to the beach. Viking bay has gorgeous little cafes and a real family friendly atmosphere, for ice creams, coffees, sunday lunches in the sunshine or even just watching the boats... More

A beautiful sheltered sandy beach at the bottom of an old fashioned seaside town. I've been a regular visitor for more years than I care to admit; it was a regular childhood treat. The bay is flanked by cliffs with a jetty one end. It's very protected, so unless the wind is coming directly onto the beach, is quite sheltered.... More

One of the best sheltered sandy beaches on the south coast. Cleaned every day and patrolled by Life Guards till fairly late. It is a gem for kids to play on and for parents to relax. Access via a lift or stairs.
