You do need a good head for heights as the name suggests. A very interesting place to visit. Take a ride in the cable car and go down into caverns as well as playgrounds, fossil rubbing Punch and Judy and much more. something for everyone.

On the face of it the entry fee may seem quite expensive, but considering what you get, it's great value for money. We left the wife & mother-in-law at home, and I think that was a wise choice - if you don't fancy the cable car ride or wouldn't enjoy trips down the caverns you really miss the major highlights... A great day out. The kids loved the parks and we all enjoyed the caverns. Fossil house was very interesting and kids loved seeing the dinosaur fossil. My number one tip is to wear comfortable shoes. Although you can ride up to the village by cable car, there is still a lot of hill walking to and from the different... More

Me and my mum have been inquisitive about the Heights Of Abraham for many months and whenever we drive under the cable car on our way into Matlock Bath we have an urge to visit. Finally we got the chance after I broke up for the summer holidays. We parked the car in a car park we thought would come... More

Cable cars were somewhat terrifying for the one member of our party not happy with heights but the kids thought it was the best thing ever and our tour guide of the Masson Cavern was excellent. We didn't have time to visit the Rutland Cavern because the fossil factory and adventure playgrounds were so popular we couldn't drag the kids... More

Rode the cable car up, £14+ per adult but this included entrance to the mines and exhibitions too. Ate at the Treetops restaurant, which had a good selection of hot and cold meals and drinks at very reasonable prices. The view from the veranda and cable cars was fantastic. We enjoyed all the exhibitions and tours and think that it... More

Visited on a beautiful hot day, two adults, two kids and two dogs. Park in the station then cross the line and walk up to the cable car station. At this point everything was fine. The guy at the ticket office admired our dogs and gave me a dog biscuit for them. We boarded the cable car, which doesn't stop, just... More

If you have problems with heights DONT go, apart from that it is a must to see. The cable car ride is impressive & quick with lovely views right across Matlock Baths. You can walk up to the top where the cable car takes you, but you would need to be either a serious walker or a mountain goat! You... More

We are a couple no children but thoroughly enjoyed our day out in Matlock. The caverns were a good visit and the chairlift views were great. It was a very hot day on our visit and we really enjoyed sitting admiring the views and having a cold cider in the bar at the top.
