First, it's a huge marketing & manufacturing plant. Not a quaint Tuscan winery (which there are many great ones). This would be fine if the wines were mind blowing...but they just aren't. We really really wanted to be impressed, since this is Brunello di Montalchino country. But we actually didn't buy one bottle when we left. We had the 1... More

This is must, if you are in the region. Banfi has contributed a lot to the Italian wine industry, not only for Sangiovese and Brunello in Montalcino but also wider in enhancing the quality and brand awarness for Tuscany wines in general. Old castle has been renowated with generous budget and the wineshop and tasting rooms are quite similar to... More

My fiance' and I just spent 4 days in Montalcino and upon recommendations from two different friends who frequent the area, we booked the cellar tour and then dinner at Banfi. We spent time at a few smaller vineyards the day before and have to say that Banfi fell very short. For Banfi we did a basic tour at 4pm... More

Beautiful location outside on Montelcino. Outstanding wine tasting options, plenty of product to purchase including their Balsamic which does not export at all. Be sure to see the Balsamic room and the museum collection of glass. Staff very friendly and helpful

Most people go to a winery and find a wine they like. My wife has been drinking Banfi San Angelo Pinot Grigio for several years and when we decided to vacation in Italy, we knew we had to visit the winery. We were so glad we did. The estate was beautiful and the wine delicious. My wife even found a... More

The place is extremely beautiful, and surroundings breathtaking. Remember to take your time to walk around the estate. Take your time and have a wine tasting - they've got different price levels, starting at approx. 20 euro for 3-4 glasses. Prices are good and cheaper than your home country. We went around 1pm and only few tourists there, so plenty... More

This American owned winery, the winery of the year 2015 in Europe diserves a visit. If you don't drink wine - enjoy the view. We were met by Bernadeete, a German having lived in Tuscany for 25 years, married to an Italian. She quickly assesed our wine knowledge, and then the tasting began. Lots of discussion about marketing, style, and... More

Is worth visiting it, beautiful winery, kind attention, great enoteca! Try La Taverna Restaurant! One of the best, if not the best all around Tuscany!

We visited on a Sunday when the winery is closed, so we didn't get a tour, but the wine tasting was an excellent sampling of their whites, rosés, and reds, including sparkling wines, with detailed descriptions and explanations. It is possible to buy bottles of the wines in their shop and they have a wonderful selection of other items for... More

I visited Banfi with a colleague in February. We thought it would be a good idea to drive there...leaving Milan, stopping in Florence for a night and then returning all the way back to the Piedmont region the next day. Faint of heart, we are not! It was winter and driving through the mountains was a bit treacherous, but we... More
