We were not able to do the tour, as they were setting up for a wedding, but we did enjoy a wonderful tasting at this beautiful winery in the Montalcino hills. I was not able to snap enough pictures of the beauty of this estate. The wine tasting was reasonable and well worth the opportunity to visit. I would recommend... More

Anyone who is familiar with the classic wine movie "Sideways" will immediately think of the classic scene at 'Frass Canyon' (the winery where 'Miles' poured the spit bucket over his head) when entering the tasting room at Banfi. Extremely commercial. More interested in ripping off tourists than actually educating the wine consumer. The tour was much of the same. It... More

We were here only for a relatively quick tasting. The weather was very bad. Winery itself is beautiful, as are the vineyards. Of course, everything is on a large scale, and that takes away a little bit of the charm, but, you should definitely visit Castello Banfi!

I like to visit wine yards in every segment (mid and high end), even if it is very commercial. This mid segment wine yard is a huge brand, but it have lost it im my mind. The people were not helpfull and they probably the experience of too big buses of "only tasting and nothing buying" tourists. They were (when... More

I was recently in Italy and drank the best wines I have ever drank. One of the wines, Banfi Brunello, was so good I sought them out and drove about 2 hours from Cortona just to try out their wines. The wine tours were sold out so I just drove out there anyway. It was in the middle of nowhere... More

We did not take a tour but had a three course wine pairing in their restaurant. The food was good and the service was excellent but it was nothing special. It is inside the restaurant and there is no view. The price was high for what was served. The wines they paired were their average, everyday wines. Call early for... More

If you go there thinking that this is an Italian place ....it is owned actually by an American family that grew the Brunelo di Montalcino brand. They sure know how to do bussiness. It is impressive but if you are looking for traditional, small business, family winery, this is not your place. This is an example of how a small... More

The castle and surrounding wineries are beautiful, but once we got to the huge Enoteca all the romance disappeared. Tour buses crowded the place and the staff looked bored and not very friendly. Tastings seemed way overpriced. We left promptly. Finding small wineries that offer tastings isn't that easy in this area, but there are a lot of charming villages... More

This winery is a great place to do a wine tasting/lunch then take a tour. We enjoyed every minute and have such an appreciation for how they make, store and prepare their wines...no wonder we love them so much!

This is indeed a state of the art winery. If you are looking for a small, quaint winery with wine caves, this isn't it. The Mariani's have developed a winery using the latest in scientific principles -- like the hybrid oak and stainless steel combo fermentation casks. The amazing thing is that they share all they learn through their research... More
