If you go there thinking that this is an Italian place ....it is owned actually by an American family that grew the Brunelo di Montalcino brand. They sure know how to do bussiness. It is impressive but if you are looking for traditional, small business, family winery, this is not your place. This is an example of how a small... More

The castle and surrounding wineries are beautiful, but once we got to the huge Enoteca all the romance disappeared. Tour buses crowded the place and the staff looked bored and not very friendly. Tastings seemed way overpriced. We left promptly. Finding small wineries that offer tastings isn't that easy in this area, but there are a lot of charming villages... More

This winery is a great place to do a wine tasting/lunch then take a tour. We enjoyed every minute and have such an appreciation for how they make, store and prepare their wines...no wonder we love them so much!

This is indeed a state of the art winery. If you are looking for a small, quaint winery with wine caves, this isn't it. The Mariani's have developed a winery using the latest in scientific principles -- like the hybrid oak and stainless steel combo fermentation casks. The amazing thing is that they share all they learn through their research... More

We visited Castel Banfi for lunch and view tasting. The approach to the Castello is simply stunning as you drive thru the acres and acres of estate. Arriving we proceed to the Enoteca where were offered a glass of prosseco. We then proceeded to the museum which is very interesting especially the glass collection and history of Banfi. Lunch then... More

We had tasted Banfi Brunello di Montalcino on several occasions and wanted to visit the winery. We were so impressed with the wines, the knowledgeable tour guide and the fact that the magnitude of the winemaking process does not take anything away from the quality of the wines. It just doesn't get much better than this!

We will never forget our visit to Castello Banfi. It was the highlight of our trip! We had a wonderful, informative tour of the winery, then had a tasting and fabulous lunch at the Taverna. The service was excellent, the food was terrific-be sure to have the tasting menu, and the wines were incredible! The entire experience is impressive and... More

We came here in 2010 and visited again this year. The property is magnificent and the wine tour is great. The real treat is the multi-course lunch with wine pairings which we thoroughly enjoyed. Prior to our lunch, we had an aperitif in the tasting room and our fabulous guide, Bernadette, even took us for a quick look at the... More

On our recent trip to Montalcino we visited the Banfi winery. We enjoyed the tasting flights with cheeses, meats, and bruschetta. The description of each wine by our server with a little history thrown in was quite enjoyable. The Brunellos were our favorite!
