Description: Altesino is a leader in various, important innovations in the production...
Altesino is a leader in various, important innovations in the production of Sangiovese from Montalcino, causing it to stand out and become a reference point for the entire territory. Some of the positive contributions putting Montalcino on the world map are: the introduction of the "Cru" (Montosoli) concept in 1975, the production in '77 of the first Grappa from a winery and the first Futures (purchasing wine before its release) for Brunello 1985. We organize wine tastings and the visit are made under appointment preferably.

We came to Altesino 4 years ago and I would have rated it a 5 star experience, hence the reason I came back. However, it has become way too touristy. There are 250 vineyards in Montalcino. I would recommend almost any other for an authentic experience. Last time we came, the owner and his wife poured wine for us in... More

Last week my husband and I took the tour of the winery followed by lunch. The tour was interesting but the lunch was fabulous especially with the wine pairings. A couple of other Americans were seated at the table next to us and talking to them while experiencing the meal and wine made it really fun! It ended up being... More

Our favorite vineyard and Brunello di Montalcino is Altesino! Of course we were lucky enough to have Guido as our tour guide. We had the most amazing, informative and delicious tour ever! Thank you, Guido!

We booked a tour at Altesino during our 5 day stay in Tuscany and we were so glad we did. Ilaira was our guide and is fantastic. The tour was interesting and afterwards we had a tasting plate with approx. 5 wines from the estate - they were amazing! We would highly recommend visiting the estate and tasting their gorgeous... My wife and I traveled to Altesino Vineyards based on recommendations from various websites and it was wonderful. We were attended by Laura who took us through a very nice, personalized tour and then experienced their wine tasting - which is phenomenal. Although a quieter experience because it was mid-November, Laura basically became our main event and helped us understand... More

Ilaria was our amazing tour guide (be sure to request her if you need an English speaking guide!). She is completely delightful. The winery is clean, elegant and beautiful. I wish we were still there. Not only is the wine incredible but the olive oil is perfection. Their body lotion (made with their olive oil) is silky and lovely as... More

We went to Altesino for the wine tour and tasting. Our warm welcoming by our hostess, Ilaira, was the start of our day. She provided a wonderful tour of the winery. The grounds are spectacular and the views of Montalcino with their vineyards on the slopes in front were breathtaking. Our wine and cheeses with our tasting were delicious along... More

We enjoyed our time with Ilaria and the tasting was well done. We purchased many bottles and shipped home to USA. There were grapes being hung for the winter before being made into dessert wine. A first time experience for us.

i went to Altesino in 2001 and again in 2002 before they developed the amazing winery that exists there today. it was great then, and i've drunk the Rosa and Brunello frequently over the past 10 years. i went back this fall with some friends who had not been before, but who have frequented wineries in CA, Chile, NZ and...
