What a beautiful villa and gardens with wonderful location on Lake Como. Spent a couple of hours here happily exploring with our 12 and 16 year olds.

Villa Carlotta is an attractive house but with very mediocre art and furniture, compared to what is available in any European City. However, the price of the ticket is worth it for the view of Lake Como and the gardens are amazing, and I am not a garden person. Allow twenty minutes for the house and 90 minutes at least... More

The house is now a museum which was given as a weeding present to Carlotta - hence its name. It is full of airy rooms filled with works of arts. Some rooms have been preserved. There were also exhibitions of the work of current artists (painting on glass for example). There are grand staircases but also lifts. There is also... More

The garden is huge and there`s lots to see, best in the spring when the Rhododendrons and Azaleas are in bloom we were told but still not bad in July. Some steep paths and limited wheel chair access to some parts of the garden. In the Villa there are a small number of woks of art and some minimally furnished... More

Very impressive building.. must have been lovely as a house once. Beautiful grounds.. was a bit too hot to walk around the whole garden it was huge!! Worth... More

Inevitably old Italian mansion houses , don't have lifts, and there are lots of stairs to see all the floors of the house, In fairness there isn't that much to see in the house. There were a few attempts at featured exhibitions but they were just ok. The gardens are very pleasant though

Villa Carlotta looks amazing from the lake and draws you in, you yearn to stand on the terrace at the top of the house and look across the gardens and lake, imagining it was your own house! The gardens are beautiful, as good as any botanic gardens you will find, just on a smaller scale of course. The artwork and... More
