Kids weren't too sure about a black beach, but they really loved it. Lots of fun watersports if you have cash to splash!

You can board a bus in Fira to get to Perissa Beach. Make sure to bring some sneakers as opposed to just sandals. The sand which is black from volcanic ash is extremely hot. You do not want to walk down to shore with bare feet. The sand is extremely hot! There's a stone wall in some parts that you... More

What a fantastic beach. Not too crowded, laid back feel and fabulous beach bars. Recommended for families and couples.

Decent facilities and nice sea water for swimming but be careful - black volcanic sand gets very hot! Sunbeds with parasols. Beach side bars with live music most nights.

Taking a bus here was easy. The beach was not crowded and we were able to secure beach chairs. The water was calm and inviting. I like the fact there were several restaurants to choose from and a convenience store to by most of anything.

We visited today and it was really beautiful although a bit windy. Clear blue water and I loved the idea that they had menus attached to the umbrella and one can order cocktails and even food and it will be served on the beach !!! :)

This is a lovely black beach, plenty of sun beds most of which are free providing you buy at least a drink from the bar/restaurant that owns them. You get two beds an umbrella and a table and the staff will deliver your drinks! The sands gets extremely hot so it's worth buying the special shoes they sell in the... More

The water was crystal clear and refreshing from the burning black sand. Down on the promenade by the cliff side is quite nice too and easier to lie on than burning sand. Ok for snorkeling too by the rocks and the cliff. Watch out for the asian massage touters; there's plenty of them.
