This cave was wonderful and the guide we had (Keith) was doing his job very well. He even briefed us through the fauna and flora of the place before getting into the cave.

One of the most beautiful caves I've ever seen. We bought a two cave pass as we were tired and didn't know if we could do 3. But if you have time I'd do ALL 3. We had already done the glow worm cave and then on to this one that was just down the road. Easy to find &... More

This was one of the most impressive caves I have ever seen. Trevin was a wonderful guide - knowledgeable in geology and history, personable and a great sense of humor. I can still picture the women in Victorian attire visiting this cave by candle light 100+ years ago.

The guide Huee Tonn was a joy. He may be a little lacking in depth of knowledge but he made up for this by his demeanor and his beautiful voice when he sang in the deepest cave known as the cathedral. Great trip.Go

Excellent adventure with an experienced guide. Stunning limestone formations. Cheaper to take the 3 caves tour at 91 NZD per person which takes 3-4 hours.

the guide was a pleasure and very funny, full of information. he made sure we got to see as much as possible and didn't rush us at all. what you expect when you pay to see these places. the caves are quite spectacular and we all really enjoyed it. saw a few glow worms in this cave and the cave... Compared to Ruakuri and glowworm, the cave was not so amazing. It didn't have rivers and thus no glowworms. The limestone landscape was brilliant though. But if you plan to visit all the three caves, and leave the cave as the last one to visit, you would probably be a little disappointed. It was less amazing than Ruakuri cave.

Trevin met us singing and left us all humming a little tune. Not only was he knowledgable and entertaining, he was personable and very helpful. Our daughter taught him the term "cave kisses" which he seemed to find amusing. We have caves near us in the U.S. but it's amazing how different each cave can be. Great history and learning... More

After a dismal tour yesterday at the glow worm Waitomo cave, we weren't looking forward to the other two caves we'd booked (we'd gone for the three cave package as recommended by friends, I'd recommend it too) But then we met Trev. As our guide, he joked about leaving quick before anyone else joined us. And we did (he knew... More

Aranui Cave is by far the best of the main attractions in Waitomo, especially if you are lucky enough to have Trev as your guide. It has the most spectacular limestone formations of all the local caves open to the public, but is the least visited. If you have limited time in the area, this is the one to see.... More
