I purchased the three cave package at the Waitomo Cave centre and this was the last tour of the three caves. Aranui is a beautiful cave with a very cool natural entrance and a spectacular range of stalagtites and stalagmites, especially at it's furthest point. Our guide was extremely friendly and helpful, and we were lucky enough to have a... More

We first were able to walk in a tropical forest nearby the Aranui Cave. I enjoy going for a walk in a forest. We then were able to enter the cave and the first thing we saw was a Weta. There is a whole colony of them within the first ten meters of that cave. They look like a huge... More

We explored all three caves, this one is the shortest of the three. If you purchase the trio package, this cave exploration is the last to go.

As soon as we entered the Arunui cave we were spell bound. The sheer number of stalactites, stalagmites and other limestone formations is awe inspiring. Each and every corner of the roof and walls is adorned with these fragile, sparkling forms in various pale hues. The guide was informative and as the tour group was small, we could all hear... More

Aranui was the first of our three cave tour, and was by far the most memorable. My partner and I were fortunate to be the only people on the tour conducted by local Maori guide Trev. Trev was an absolute gem, a real live wire with a wealth of knowledge of the cave, geology in general, local history and local... More

We visited the Ruakuri Cave (not listed on TripAdvisor) it is the only wheelchair friendly cave and a strong helper is required to push you back ou the spiral, but staff will do this if your helper cant. The maximum wheelchair width is 670mm and be assured if you are and wider you will not get between a few obstacles.... More

It's a short guided tour (about 40minutes) But I have to say it's the prettiest among the three. If you are considering visiting all three caves, aranui is close to ruakuri, so just put glowworm cave first or last. Also you don't necessarily have to leave too much time between each caves since the departure are almost always late. For... More
