We went through in the daytime, then back for a night walk to see the glowworms. Fun and beautiful! Not too strenuous. Lots of caves to look in. A bushtailed possum posed for cameras!
Took the bushwalk on recommendation and it was refreshing and beautiful. Cost nothing for us to walk through and it was a lovely trip just before dinner at dusk - lovely and cool after the heat of the day. Enjoyed the cave and river contained in the park.
This tour was recommended by our accommodation host. Before you get to see the stalagmites etc there's an amazing labyrinth of pathways and tunnels which are quite spectacular too. The guide was most informative and there were plenty of phot opportunities.
We did all three cave tours and found this one to be the superior experience. The guide was enthusiastic and informative without sounding like a pamphlet. It is a more up close and personal look at the caves and discussion of their history. Being able to see the glow-worms up close was a real plus. The tour is definitely on... More
Anna was an excellent guide. There was a good chance to get up close to some of the glow-worms and photograph them while Anna held a torch towards them. Interesting fossils of scallops in this cave too. The nearby bush walk is an excellent way of spending half an hour. If you don't have your own wheels you can be... More
This is a half hour, free, easy walk to do with the children, if you are in already in Waitomo area. Beautiful caves, plenty of stalactites and stalagmites for the children to see. Educational short trip for kids, no payment required
You can do the bush walk without paying the fee and going into the caves. As I had seen the glow worms and an adjoining cave system I thought the walk to the natural tunnel would do me. There are steps and good walking shoes with good grip might be a good idea. There are toilets here but they are... More
I was feeling a bit timid so I bought a combination ticket for the Glow worm Caves and the 1 km walk. I was impressed that the descent and experiEnce of this walk had been made wheel chair accessible. The engineering logistics of managing this are fascinating. Fossils, glowworms, and full range of stalagmites and stalactites can be seen close... More
