My husband and I did the 7 hour epic tour on our honeymoon to New Zealand in November. We were both SO excited for this tour, and boy did it deliver. The tour features a short walk through the forest then a 100M+ abseil (repel) down into the caves. You then have lunch at the bottom, then hike, swim, climb,... More

Descend into the bowels of the earth with the Epic Lost World 7 hour tour. Did the 10:30AM tour. There were 9 people in the group plus 2 guides, Garret and Chris. Everyone was moderately fit (minimum age 15, able to run a mile in 10 min, had no acrophobia or claustrophobia). Arrived 10AM to fill out paperwork. Van left... More

We came back after 3 years to do this one again. Our guides Chris and Craig were fabulous, and even consented to take a picture with our plastic duck. I was able to climb up the waterfall which I'd been unable to do last time, so that was a great satisfaction for me. We've done 4 tours with this company... More

So i went on holiday to NZ with a friend who kept bugging me to go do this trip. "sure" i thought "we'll see the cave worms, whatever" The glow worm part of the cave was really special. If you want a romantic moment to remember with a SO, this is well worth it.

Slogging through chest high water in a cave and crawling under rocks after abseiling down a 300 ft rope probably isn't for everyone, but it sure is for me and my wife!! The guides are great, they provide super pictures and a delicious bar b q after. They keep you safe all the way through it too. Great adventure and... More

after reading all the reviews for this on trip advisor, I was expecting a pretty cool trip. After actually doing it, it was ten times better than anything I could have imagined and by far the highlight of my trip to New Zealand. As a disclaimer, they are not kidding about the physically fit thing....this trip is extremely physical. I... More

We did the 7 hour lost world tour. This tour starts out with a dramatic 100m abseil that they claim is the largest commercially run abseil in the world. You descend into a cross between a canyon and a cave opening. The views are amazing on the way down. I was initially nervous about this abseil having done a prior... More

Come on, bite the bullet and just book this trip already! You will not regret it. Abseiling into an other-worldly abyss, scrambling over, under and through rocks, climbing up waterfalls and jumping into eel-inhabited waters, all the while being in awe of the glorious glowworms lighting up the cave's sky. Exhilarating and fun, this is a definite must-do if you're... More

Very well organised, instructed and guided through the caves thanks to Chris and Gareth. The abseiling was so much fun! The lunch at the bottom was very good.Side note, you need to be somewhat fit. You will experience hiking through the caves, some wading in up to chest high cold water but no worries due to the wetsuits provided. Wear... More

It was a 7 hr tour from start to finish, but just as a disclaimer you spend approx. 3.5 hours in the cave depending on the fitness level of the group. Regardless, the staff was nice, funny, and knowledgeable, and the trip was just fantastic overall. They were sure to take many pictures and allowed us to go at a... More

Thanks very much for your lovely words - much appreciated ! We're just a bit perplexed by the comment that you only spend 3.5 hours in the cave. Whilst times do vary a bit with water levels; client numbers; fitness etc the general format is approximately as follows: 10.30am depart Waitomo Adventure Centre 11.00am arrive Lost World Hut - and...
